Pretty dames comes to my office everyday... lookin fer someone to help them

Dame: Oh Please sir! Would you please spy on my husband?
Private Eye: Here's lookin at you kid!

Ben Franklin
MLK
Malcolm X

Just a couple off the top of my head.

Yeah, I guess if our knighthoods were anything like the Brits', our leader would sprinkle in a few of their favorite celebrities among the important figures. (Queen Elizabeth is apparently a big fan of Spielberg's movies.)

Idjit boy passed around Medals of Freedom to the undeserving. I suspect we'd have Sir Donald Rumsfeild, Sir Thomas De Lay and Doctor Sir Bill Frick KC getting these honors. Heck we might have seen Brownie get one heck of a Knighthood.

I say Americans should just come over here to become a Sir.

In fact can a knighthood be given to just people from England?

I'm not sure Lex, I would imagen they would of had to contribute to Britain in someway. A foreigner could do that I suppose. But I'd prefer all my knights to be British thankyou very much!

Martin Luther King is the obvious choice.

Knighthoods are not worth nothing its a symbolic gesture at most. The queen gives them out like cotton candy and its picked by politicians. Half the time its a publicity stunt.

They are a bit silly - I am trying to think of the most stupid knighthood given out in the last 10 years....anyone got a list of actual knights?

Didn't that woman athletics runner who missed 3 drugs tests just get a MBE or something?

Nope anyone can get a knighthood or Damehood. You don't have to be British or a member of the commonwealth you only have to be British or be a Comonwealth country with the queen as head of state to use the title of sir or dame. Australians, Canadians, Jamacians, ect can use this

None commonwealth citzens can use the initials of the award after their names. Steven Spielberg has a knighthood as does Pele, J.Edgar Hoover, Mother Teresea, all the swedish and spanish royal family.

If America had knighthoods like England does right now, we'd have people like Clay Aiken, Perez Hilton, Bob Barker and the Jonas Brothers getting the title. It's such a frikkin joke. I mean seriously, Pele? Elton John? come on!

I like this thread

I don't think you can get a knighthood unless you are british. YOu can get an honourary one though, i believe if you are part of the commonwealth like president mugabe got.

as for american version, Michael Jackson would have to get one

Steven Spielberg
Densel Washington
Sidney Poitier
Mohammed Ali
Dolly Parton
Tom Hanks
Mark Spitz
Phelps
Michael Johnson
Micheal Jordan
Babe Ruth
Hulk Hogan
That famous female acrobat
Bill Gates
Inventor of the postet
Britney (although she would have eventually lost hers)
oprah
ellen
seinfeld
ted danson
kelsey grammar
patrick stewart
stan lee
danny elfman
sammy davis junior
elvis presley
charlie chaplin

etc

Why would Britney get one? For her contribution to crap music that she doesn't even write or sing herself? :hehe:

Exactly. Britney Spears isn't even a good singer and is lucky enough to have a top bunch of producers and songwriters behind her. If not for a very loyal fanbase and tabloid stories she generates, she would probabley disappear faster than Usain Bolt.

:hehe:

She might as well do playboy now while she isn't as saggy. It's inevitable that she will eventually.

She's done alot for america's image and helped keep them on top for along time in the music business. she's pop royalty

definitely quincy jones should get one, he's amazing
