Sequels If they used The Green Goblin in the sequels, he should look like this....

I would have preferred Harry to be in it, but since he doesn't show up until Peter is in college in the comics I don't mind. But honestly, I think they didn't include Harry to differentiate it from the previous trilogy imo.

It's not from New Ways to Die, just scanned through my copies of the series, plus Pete took off his mask which he wouldn't do considering that Norman doesn't know his identity anymore.

I think it's from Peter Parker: Spider-Man #75.

On the subject of Harry, I wish they would put him in this movie, but I'm not sure if Pete is going to College yet, any word on that? Or is just in high school the whole time? Still, I feel like if they had Harry in the first one they could start developing some important character details. You wouldn't even have to include Norman yet.

Me too.

So Peter won't be in college in this film. I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I haven't really been looking at any of the details yet. But your reasoning seems sound.

I definitely want Green Goblin to be menacing. I think that the "Jekyll and Hyde" idea should not be used again. I want Norman Osborn to be a megalomaniacal predator, who hasn't been a "good person" for a long time, but takes it to a whole new level after taking the "Goblin" serum. Pretty much the way that MadGoblin describes him in his Green with Evil article series.

Agreed. Moments like this:

Can't happen with a metamorphosing Green Goblin.

I love that comic so much!

Norman Osborn (imo) needs to be the Hannibal Lector of the superhero genre. Being a rich scientist, he need's that "class" and sophistication. But we also need to feel that deranged psychopath is itching to unleash itself just below the surface. Having him mutate not only dilutes that intensity and suspense of the character, but also makes for an excuse for his characterization to be weak (ie: Conners is only threatening and technically "The Lizard" when he mutates, where as Norman is ALWAYS the Goblin).

Well said.

Or much closer.

The thing about reboots is that the new creative team is compelled (either artistically or literally, by the studio) to make things different and unique from the previous incarnation.

When a reboot has the opportunity to "right the wrongs" of the previous series, it's a plus. The problem comes when the previous series already got things right. It's hard to fix something that isn't broken, and yet a rebooted series is often asked to do exactly that. And that's when you get things like Webb's spidey suit. Since it was pretty much perfect to begin with, the only "unique" route to take is to go different, and thus, further from the comic.

Luckily, the Goblin situation is the opposite. Webb now has the opportunity to differentiate from the previous series and make it more comic accurate at the same time.

Agreed.

oh. alrighty

Holy ****! That's creepy!

there is a recent picture of Green Goblin where there is blood dripping from his fingers and he looks scary and cool that should be what they use

Is this picture you speak of in this thread? If it isn't, please post it.

It's like a more advanced armour plating, instead of the medievil esque scalemail. I guess adjustments could be made to the gloves and boots, like they did with Captain America too.

Thanks, this seems to work, I'd just lose the Wee Willie Winkie hat, shorten the ears and give him a hooded coat, make the mask explanation the same as those Mission Impossible masks.

This is the picture I was referring to, I would like this to be the Goblin for this Spidey series.

I would like the film's portrayal of Norman Osborn to take a cue from Patrick Bateman from American Psycho and Hannibal Lecter from Silence Of The Lambs. I want him to be sophisticated, manipulative, and deceptive. A sadistic predator who hides behind a facade of decency and kindness to get close to his victims.

Thoughts?

I like tht idea, but I would like a more SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN Show version. I like the idea tht in the show he's corperating all these superhuman villains. And after they all fail him, he uses his own enhancement formula so tht he could take down Spidey himself.

I would cast either. Gary Sinise or Jason Isaacs as Gobbie!

Have always loved that image....what I would like to see brought to film. Not just the look; but, the agility as well.

How about this take on the Norman/Goblin dichotomy:

The Green Goblin should not only be Norman Osborn's "id", but a chaotic extension of himself, which comes out when Norman undergoes extreme stress and anger. So rather be a split personality altogether, the Goblin would simply express the "hidden", subdued aspects of Norman's personality (ie. homicidal impulses and violent tendencies).

In short, the Goblin serum would unleash Norman's "hidden self".

Agreed!

For Green Goblin's look, I definitely want it to maximize the actor's ability to express in costume. Translucent lenses are a must, in my opinion.

Give me a hybrid of Transformation/Costume and I'll be sold.

No transformations please. I wouldn't want to be deprived of the opportunity for Spider-Man and Green Goblin to take their masks off and fight as Peter and Norman.

I don't know if you can get the facial expressions through a mask...although someone posted a link to a make-up company who supposenly can.

Dont get me wrong, I'm costume Goblin 100%.

I just feel that Web will go the transformation route simply because 1: this franchise is influenced heavily by the Ultimate Comics and 2: We've seen (horrible) costume Goblin already.

If I'm forced to get behind a transformation I'd rather it be a hybrid than simply Hulk-lite.
