None of these actors need replacing.

Tim Story does not need replacing either, but he needs to get his game together and pay attention to detail, he is responsible for the interpretation and direction of Julian on Doom, he needs to get his act together. He has done two Films now. I am sure that most of the decisions that hurt this film can be laid at Fox' doorstep.

Tim has to walk into that post film meeting with the suits and say, hey look you wanted this and this and this and this and look at the fan response on Superherohype, and everywhere else and the BO reflects the errors you made.

Then he needs to say, I want almost total creative control or I am walking.

We do not need another director for a single film that might not be able to deliver the family and character sweetness that this movie had.

All of the things that compromised this film are fixable.

The run time, the Doom characterization (which is now one revolution from being the marvel Doom), the action scenes, the devotion and respect for the source.

Now if he does not do that and pulls a Mark Frost then he is only hurting his career and standing with the fans and the film will not fly.

Fox needs replacing (well their meddling ways that is) and everything will be fixed.

Frankly I suggest they leak a public fight with Tim to the press with last minute compromises that gives Tim total control ala the Tom Jane situation (yeah I know that he walked) and then Tim coming and saying this is a new day or something like that.

I don't think any story can top the galactus storyline, Its messed up but I say do a low budget Surfer film but make it a set up for FF3 and correct the standalone mistake that they made FF2 into.

Will Fox have the guts to do any of this, I doubt it but maybe somewhere someone wants some more money and will decide that hard work and integrity works better than lying and deception.

Tim Story " definitely " needs to be replaced !! ... - that's the beginning and failures of the FF films and it will be all-out doom if Story is given the Silver Surfer or Fantastic Four 3 film. if he has had two films to " get his act together " then what do you expect the third film to be ? ............ what you see is exactly what you are going to get. He's not at all in connection with the FF. And the franchise has suffered for it.

Like Raetner of the Xmen 3, he hasn't at all succeed in making FF special, unique and can only do more worse than better.
( i still cant get over the fake, aqua-blue Sue Richards eye contacts !)
Giving Doctor Doom cosmic powers and enabling him to shoot " lightning " rather than the horribly scarred guy in a suit of armor.( which i absolutely hated !) and also making the Doom a " Charming & Dashing" character although more ended up making Dr. Doom characer just a dull joke.

....or the brooding, overbearing hood that more resembles a " western monk's gown " and barely even shows the iron mask.

the ONLY THING i could Tim Story any credit for in both of his FF films is the zany comical relationship betweenThe Thing and Johnny Storm. The rivalry/horseplay between the two is right on target with the comics - which i very much expect that from Story since he is FAR MORE of a comedy-oriented director than an action-director

. - i just don't care the man's style and directional in regards to the FF . it makes a HUUUUUUUUGE difference ( much like Bryan Stinger vs Brett Raetner .... or Ang Lee doing the Hulk )

i really have no problem with the actual casting of Chris Evans( Mr Fantastic) , Michael Chiklis( thing) .. Jessica Alba( invisible woman ) or even Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom ( if Story actually knew a clue of how to do Doom character right ) the way Story did FF films made them appear just too flat out campy, cheesy, two-bit than what the likes, uniqueness appeal of Xmen (pre- Raetner ) and Spiderman films .................

i feel like i'm watching one of those FX channel series like Zena-Princess, Taken, or Hercules type of action series than a standout, one of a kind legendary classic. ...that's why there can be anymore Tim Story if the FF or Silver Surfer is to ever be a true, unique Superheroaction classic.

Pleeeeeeeeeease , no more Tim Story !! ...he's screwed it up enough.

...Enuff is Enuff !!

^^

As you know I disagree with you a great deal. Most of the problems with the presentation of the FF was in place long before Tim Story came aboard at the last moment. Check the time line. He was brought in to direct a script and concepts already commissioned and storyboarded/plotted out.

FF2 was a step up in the cinematography of the first film. The time, and comedy slant were directives from Fox, therefore how is Tim Story responsible for that. IF Fox is the one forcing things on the directors as they did with Ratner in XMen3 which is why Singer walked why would a change in director benefit the film.

And by the way I understand fan outrage at the deaths and deception in Xmen3 but I still liked it better than Singer's take. Yeah I know I never really loved these characters that much so Singer and Ratner's changes don't affect me one way or the other.

Having said that how if Fox is running the show will we have a much improved film. Their vision is poor and they are foisting it on directors.

I think Singer had the cajones to stand up to the studio and that is why his films have a different tone from many of their other comic book fare.

Now i hope that Tim Story has the stuff to stand up to Fox as well or yes he could as well walk.

Fox has worked with strong directors before.........Cameron ring a bell? We have no way of knowing what Fox wanted and didn't want. It seems to me that if Tim was a stronger director he would have at least had a director's cut from the first movie. He didn't even get that.......he had nothing to do with that extended cut, and its evident with the commentary. Mark Johnson got a Director's Cut with Daredevil, why couldn't Story get one with Fantastic Four. I think, because he wasn't strong enough to fight for it. So instead he got an extended cut that he wasn't happy with....

Let Tim Story finish the trilogy.

Then reboot the franchise 8 years later.

your statement should better read:

..... " Let Tim Story continue screwing up what he started out doing
from the very beginning and that should finish off a truly Lameful Sorry TRILOGY. "

:cmad:

I don't think they should replace Chris Evans as the Human Torch. He's just to perfect for the role. I'd say keep Chiklis as Thing and Ioan as Mr. Fantastic and just replace an actress for Sue. I just don't like Alba as Sue.

Jessica Alba definitely would not have been my first choice at all as
Sue Richards ( and leave to typical Tim Story he had to try
to louse Alba even worse with the ridiculous Aqua-blue
eye contact lenses!..............Geeeeeeez !!
But Alba is just a minor flaw that i think i can manage to do with
and to use hope other elements ( multiple villain, Torch vs Thing rivalry, etc) to try to distract from that.

But i DO like having a black, blind Alicia Masters as the change up from
the comics.

Raimi should just get a 200 million dollar contract with Marvel and do all of their movies forever.

LOL! I almost feel the same way. It seems like he's the only director who REALLY IS A FAN of the source material and knows how to translate the comicbook dynamic to the big screen.

That said, I really hope Favreau is the real deal like Raimi. We really need another director who really knows and understands the comicbook dynamic and has the vision to bring it to life.

Director-Robert Zemeckis
Producer-Steven Spielberg
Writer-Someone awesome

Reed-Michael C Hall
Sue-Gwynith Paltrow
Ben-Bruce Willis (Circa 1988)
Johnny-Chris Evans
Doom-Ralph Fiennes or Jason Isaacs

I would pay to see that movie...wow.

I wish that James Cameron would jump on this.

Guillermo del Toro.

He is a great director, he would know to respect the important sci-fi aspect, he would pick the right actors and make an unforgettable FF movie.

Sadly, GdT passed on the FF the first time around - that would have been something to see...

Fox would've still micro-managed it into the ground I imagine.

Revamp the series from scratch.

Director: Kerry Conran (Sky Captain), Guillimero del Toro, Joss Whedon

Reed Richards: Clive Owen, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Sinise
Sue Storm: Naomi Watts, Charlize Theron, Elisabeth Banks, Julie Benz, Natasha Henstridge, Rachel McAdams
Victor von Doom: Jeremy Irons, Daniel Day Lewis, Jason Issacs, Alan Rickman, Rutger Hauer, John Malkovich
The Thing: Vin Diesel, Jack Conley (Sahjhan from Angel), Mark Walberg, Mickey Rourke, Adam Baldwin
Johnny Storm: Ryan Phillipe, Nick Stahl

Great ideas. Kerry Conran is a very good alternative.

Sue Storm could be either Watts or Theron (I prefer Theron, think she would be perfect). I'd suggest Rebecca Romijn also, but my number one would be Theron, she's got everything for the role.

Von Doom: yeah, it's impossibe, but Day-Lewis would make history. I think Rickman is one of the greatest cinema actors, but I suppose that he (as Irons for Reed) is a bit old for the part now, and too much recognizable as "the villain" with that great voice of his.

I think for an ideal list, the Torch, Reed and Ben could be improved. I admit that in the case of Chiklis, I have difficulty thinking about who could do that in his place.

He was the only happiness I really had watching both movies (in number 2 I shared some happiness seeing the Surfer, but, as we all know, that mistake with the voice). :ff:

...He's good, but I don't think he'd work with the FF.

del Toro can do wonder incredibly well. Parts of Pan's Labyrinth had this.

What's important is he'll make it dark enough to make Doom and the other rogues actual terrifying threats. Most of the enemies the FF face are beings that normal people would be frightened of.

Even the drama is no problem with him. All of his films have interesting characters with complex and sometimes even loving relationships with each other.
