lol I remember I used to have that toy. My mom threw it out. It might be worth something now on ebay.

Also, I recall Magneto driving it for some reason in the old Spidey cartoons.

From 1975, here's a great "Fantasticar" cover:

lol I love Alicia falling there. I bet she has no clue what's going on.

I really hope they'll manage to have the fantasticar look ok. I'm afraid it'll really look cheesy.

It'll be a first generation model but this story takes place today not in the 60's so it shouldn't look like a boat. LOL

Here, let me make a slight adjustment:

Whats up with the directors cut? When is it coming out?

There, that's better.

such language. Now I want you to go to the sink, grab that bar of soap, and wash your mouth out. Then I want you to both go to your room for the rest of the day. :)

Will the malice storyline be used in any of the stories?

I loved tht storyline and the one before it with the Hulk! Ben turns human and gets replaced by Cage! I love the scene at the beginning where he's sitting at the bar and the 2 bruisers pick a fight with him. Great stuff!
Byrne has it right! Look at those proportions on the Thing! Huge, sledgehammer fists, tree-trunk arms, no neck! Man what I'd give to see THAT onscreen!

Oh, love that Fantasticar too! Favorite version!

I love this storyline myself. One of my personal favorites! If you go back to the page where Ben is beaten down by those bar brawlers, there's a panel where Reed and Johnny appear in the doorway, wearing trenchcoats, with their "4" emblems peeking through. The punks who have beaten Ben don't believe they are part of the FF. So Johnny gives them proof by "flaming on"! It was drawn by Rich Buckler and inked by Joe Sinnott. I'm fortunate to own this particular page of original art and have it framed with pride!

That's awesome, man! Doesn't Reed say something like "Show him, son."? And then Reed takes Ben back to the Baxter and shows him the exoskeleton! That was back when the Thing was my favorite and I was big into MTIO also. But I've thought all these years that Byrne drew those issues! I need to go back and look. Now I'm all disillusioned!
Whoever it was drew the Thing perfectly though. That's what I'd like to see onscreen!

I agree. I'm reluctant to say Buckler drew him better than Kirby, but it was a very nice refinement of Kirby's Thing.

I've always been a sucker for the "Superheros mixing it up with regular folks" scene. There was originally a bar-room brawl with the thing written into the original script, but it got cut in later drafts.

Actually, this was a few years before Byrne began his run on the series. And Reed tells Johnny,"Show them that your the Human Torch".
When I was really young, my older brother was showing me a copy of this book. I recall him reading it to me and distinctly remember him pointing out that panel of Reed and Johnny standing in the doorway, with their trenchcoats, while their FF emblems were coming through proudly, my brother commenting ,"Now that's what a superhero is supposed to look like". I never forgot that page or panel.
Years later, one evening I was puttering around on ebay. Lo' and behold, "there was the page" with a BUY IT NOW!!!! (*Talk about fate*)
Now don't get me wrong. There are many different artists who have come and gone who I hold great admiration and respect for. Buckler and Sinnott are only two who have done great work on The Thing. Let's not leave out..
"KING" KIRBY, JOHN BUSCEMA, "and I am also a "HUGE" fan of JOHN BYRNE. "HE ROCKS"!!!
As far as them getting a movie version of The Thing that looks right, I'm still waiting for a Doctor Doom that's done correctly. Before the first FF film came out, I caught the trailers and a few clips on line. From what I saw of Doctor Doom "and" his origin? Well, that's why I haven't seen this movie and never will. To me, Doom is one of the greatest characters ever created in comics history. So to go pay to see him basterized by Tim Story and company just didn't sit well with me.
So am I a true fan of the "CLASSIC" Fantastic Four? "YES"! Am I a fan of Tim Story's Cardboard/Wall street Doctor Doom?? er...no...:down

I always loved that page. I think there's something about seeing a bully in a situation in which he's completely outclassed. Sort of like the scene at the end of Superman II when he gets his powers back and goes after the jerk in the diner.

And all these years I've thought Byrne was responsible for that! Wow. I was around 10 or 11 at the time (I think). I didn't pay any attention to who drew the things. I definitely knew who Stan Lee was thanks to the Origins of Marvel Comics and sequels. But for some reason when I thought back I thought Byrne had drawn those issues, some of my favorites. Funny, I don't ever even recall hearing of Rich Buckler. Did he do anything else?

I can tell you that when I saw Superman 2 in the theaters, there were people who actually stood up and applauded after Clark sent that brick brain into the pinball machine. What a great movie that was!

My suggestions, make Doom more like the comic, show him in Latveria, use the diplomatic imunity angle, get rid of the organic armor, just say that went away and he had to make his own armor and in his haste to put on the mask he scarred himself, I always liked that part of his story.

No more cheesy dogs hiding their eyes.

I am glad to hear that Thing will have more of a brow, and that there's a Fantasticar, also good to hear the Surfer's in this, and I hope they truly do call him that and use that title.:doom: If only they didn't have to clean up the mess they made and had just done a good 1st FF movie.

Thank you Tim for your last interview about the movie. I am glad that you are taking the fans' suggestions in reference to the movie. I was reading everything and am very excited about the sequel: All the things, Doom, the Thing's brow, all of that. Will the Thing have bigger hands so he can make those big fists in the sequel? If it can be done, I know that you will try to have everything right. It is so cool that you have been reading what the fans have been wanting. Thank you once again for everything.
