The Amazing Spider-Man if you could only have ONE, which would you choose?

Wisecracks.

His costume gets ripped in the comcs and he does take his mask off.

But his witty and sarcastic humour is a miss. I WANT HIS JOKES INCLUDED. Cause thats part of his character that keeps him young, even while hes sixty. His wisecracks are a part of him.

it's a tough one for me because whilst I want to see spidey crack wise it annoys the heck out of me when spidey's mask comes off especially when spidey is onscreen for less than 20% of the movie.

I suppose getting Spider-man's personality right is more important.

But taking off mask takes away the source of Spidey's personality which is anonymonity.

Both depend on the other for significance.

Wisecracks. He does do them in the movies, but for the most part the scene is too serious for them. You can't say he should have been doing it at the bridge or while fighting Goblin, or on the train with Ock and the subway with Sandman. And no with Venom as well.

That'd totally kill the scene. I think what they need is one or two street crime scenes where he is cracking jokes, and a few on the villain fights.

As for the mask, whether the whiny fans like it or not, there are times you need to see his facial expressions.
ex: Venom talking to him in the web, Sandman and him talking about his Uncle's death, Doc Ock's revelation.

I admit, he does have it off more than needed sometimes, but it's usually for the better. Be happy they chose that mask and not the dumb design they had where you could see his face partially in it, or the no eye pieces.

Wisecracks. I love them, it's hilarious. But I disagree as to when most of you guys said they should appear. Because like, he destroys Shocker with his jokes, I don't see a problem trying to get him angry in a serious fight.

But I also want him to keep the mask on.. I don't want to look at Peter Parker when I fight, I want Spider-Man.

Wisecracks, you'd be able to hear them better without the mask on too!
I know what you mean about the mask thing, and i treasure the scenes we get with the full mask on, but I didn't mind Pete in civvies during the New goblin fight, and aesthetically I liked the half ripped mask at the end of SM3, it was good to see some of McGuire's face when spinning around trying to get a fix on Venom for instance.
Wisecracks must be used at appropriate times though, and must be funny, not just shoehorned in to appease the fans.

What kind of trick question is this. Without the mask and wisecracks he isn't spider-man.

Well, in SM1 there was a good amount of wisecracks....in SM2 there was only ONE.....and in the third, there was 1.....sigh.

And about the mask, the way Spidey's suit was ripped at the end of SM2 was spot on. The pask was fine but the rest was badly torn, perfect. The Sm3 suit at the end was crap, The Sm1 suit at the end is acceptable becasue of the blood and the bruises. But Parer didn't even have a bruise on his face....lame.

I do enjoy seeing Spider-Man sans mask....but ONLY when its appropriate. It helps ground the character in reality and know that he's not always a CGI image. But again, ONLY when it's appropriate - like as he's changing in/out of costume, etc.

One thing I would like to see with the mask is having Spidey lift the mask halfway up like he does in the comics alot, whether its to chow down on a hot dog while sitting on the ledge of a building, or squatting on top of a payphone talking to aunt may.

my vote is for the wise cracks.

i just like the final battle between Green Goblin and Spider-Man they should go back to something like that

The wisecracks. Without them, I don't feel like I'm watching Spider-Man. It's like watching some random, almost mute hero.

Is this really so difficult to do?

it's quite difficult to do when the action is super fast paced like the train fight but there are moment where spidey levity would have been welcome, like when spidey is surfing behing the armoured car in pursuit of sandman

spidey - 'everybody was surfing, surfing usa!

spidey sweeps sandman's legs away

spidey - 'you haven't got a leg to stand on sandy'

sam is missing a trick here and it would make so many spidey fans happy.
what deadpool was doing in wolvenine is what spidey shoul be doing in his movies

having said that I'm sick to death of spidey's mask coming off. you see too little of spidey as it is (screen time) and when you DO see him it's often maskless

What? Spidey should suck in his movies..?

Sorry, I just still can't get over how botched Deadpool was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine...

It's a ****ing Spider-Man film - is it a bad sign that we have to pick one of these?

I didn't vote for one, because I think that both are important.

Anyway, the movie needs to watch it with the quips though. More quips are fine, but I don't want Spidey saying them every three seconds. Hearing that would be annoying as hell. It's one of those things that works in the comics, but wouldn't work on screen (especially during an epic fight).

How do you know it wouldn't work on screen considering the fact we haven't seen it yet? Iron Man dealt with friggen terriorist and Tony Stark had more of a sense of humor than Spidey. Besides, I don't think anyone has said we want it every 3 seconds. Just a heck of a lot more than once a movie.

Keep the mask on. The whole effin' time. So we don't see his tears and pouts

You know, it's ironic that you'd think it'd be annoying, because that's exactly what it's supposed be to his enemies. And it doesn't only work in the comics, it works in animation too. If they can find the right timing to have him wisecrack in cartoons, why would it expotentially more difficult in life action?

It's not that it's not do-able, it's because the writers suck ass. Just look at the few wisecracks he actually had in the Movies, they were horrible. Like "You're out Gobby, out of your mind."
