Not a swipe directly, but it includes you. I can scarcely believe the comment about 'not behind my back' as though i must check you are online and contact you personally when making any comment that might refer to you. Unbelievalbe. This is a written medium, not a face-to-face visual medium, so the idea of 'behind my back' is preposterous.

It did seem to be comment about me that i was unlikely to see. Do i have a swipe at you on the SR boards for liking X3 more. I find you opinion of X3 preposterous but do you see me taking inadvertant swipe's at you because of that? NO you dont.

You're over-reacting and being rather aggressive and argumentative. Heavy weekend was it? :oldrazz:

No it wasnt a heavy weekend unfortunately. But you do seem to defend X3 by having a go at SR and its supporters and its unfair IMO.

I thought Beast's wirework was fine except the part where he pounces horizontally and appears to fly off a little unconvincingly. I also was not 100 per cent sure of the initial fight scene where all the fliers and leapers launch themselves on to Alcatraz.

Was that the only extreme moment to use wirework?

I mean he never fought in any other part of the movie, and in the last fight there was very little wirework.

It deviated hugely. But that’s not why it’s bad. Even ignoring real-world history and having tanks before any were invented was okay to me (but not to a friend of mine). Things like the Nautilus setting sail for Venice (ie, going east from London) but being shown going into the sunset (ie west!) were some of examples of poor movie-making! Not to mention Mr Hyde roared underwater while saving the Nautilus!!!

I agree that there was plenty of poor movie-making in this film. However, when I compare the budget of this film with X3 and how each film was marketed I dislike LXG less. Overall X3 had better special effects but, the film was poorly put together for a film with a budget over 200mil. Interestingly, I feel that Fox got more out of their 78million LXG budget then the absurd amount of money that was wasted on X3. LXG is still nothing more than a popcorn flick to me but, at least it is a high quality one.

Anyways.

Did anyone ever notice this. Was it brought to the attention of the members here on the hype, because i sure as hell don't remember it.

Is there an official source for his apology? This is interesting. Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, so I would like to see the source!

Regardless, I wholeheartedly agree they should have listened to fans all along. Even if they were using Brett Ratner as director, those such as Shuler Donner, Arad and Winter had a responsibility to ensure the movie was as perfect as possible.
Where is Retroman to confirm if this apology is true? :p (actually, I think Retro is quite absent these days, ain't he?) :(

Sorry for my absence.;) I'm still here, i just haven't been to the X-Men section of the hype for a while since there isn't much new going.:yay:

I've done some snooping and i can't seem to find anything to back up Wikipedia's claim that Arad made these alleged comments. As others have stated anyone can edit Wikipedia and in this case i have a feeling a bitter fanboy made this up.

If you check the link now you'll see that they added even more to the original qoute since Gambitfire posted it here. Would Arad say anything (controversial) like that to the press? I really really doubt it cause if he did i'm almost certain we would know about it and would have been discussing it in length. Also, such a comment would hurt his relationship with Fox. So therefore i'm gonna call this a fake.

Yeah, just check out Rothman... But at least those are true.

Some people have been annoyed with my complaint of Magneto's army not being hurt during the scene when the bridge falls at Al-catraz. The main reason this scene bothers me so much is that before Magneto drops the bridge he raises himself. The only logical reason for his actions was he wanted to avoid getting hurt from the drop and all other debris. Why shouldn't the same reasoning apply to his army? I still think that scene was a great example of horrible writing and bad filmmaking.

My most disappointing movies of all time list:

1. X3 Why destroy a formula that worked for X1 and X2 Fox? You had 3 years to get this movie right. However after the success of X2 you wasted a whole year failing to sign Singer. Then you wasted a half a year hiring a director unfamiliar with the X-Men source material and preparing sets that were latter destroyed due to the director's depature because the production was turning into a mess. Finally, you hire a director with ADD who was also unfamiliar with the X-Men source material and the end result is an uninspiring brainless trainwreck of a storyline.

2. The Phantom Menace This was the most disappointing movie for me until X3 came along. That film has the most annoying sci-fi character
of all time. There are a few positive things I can say about it. The action and special effects were fantastic. Also, unlike X3 a lot of the problems with that film were corrected in the sequel. There is no way an X4 can fix all the problems X3 created without being cheesy.

3. Ghostbusters 2 The film definitely had it moments but, overall it was pretty bland and it had one of the worst endings I ever seen.

4. The Matrix Reloaded Great action and special effects. Confusing plot. Too many plotholes. Too much dialogue. Too much action. Too many underdeveloped characters. Too many melodramatic scenes(The party at Zion. Neo pulling the bullet out of Trinity.) What was the whole point of this movie?

5. The Matrix Revolutions Interestingly this movie made a lot more sense to me then the previous one. But, almost everything about it bored me. The first 20 minutes were extruciating for me to watch.

6. Men in Black II Good action and special effects. What happened to the humor from the last film?

7. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. A fun and entertaining movie with too many moments that grossed me out and bored me. Not a huge disappointment but, I was expecting more after seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Well considering he's no longer with Marvel, is that really an issue for him now?

Altough even i must admit that the last line added is very unprofessional.

I found it funnier than the first one.

:yay:

I found the humor of the first one to be kinda campy and wanna be slapstick.

The opening sequence in the subs of NY with Will was hysterical IMO. :D

That's just me though.

Edit- Although the second one had Johnny knoxville trying to be funny which was slightly annoying. :o :D

Thanks for taking the time, Retro.
You're welcome!:yay:

I hadn't read that one before.OMG:woot:

Considering he's producing movies Fox are putting their money into, yes.:cwink:

at least he was authentically stupid whereas Will Smith was trying to come off dumber than actually required. Oh, well I guess it's called acting. :)

But authentic stupidity I find is always funnier than pretend stupidity.

The Tom Rothman section on Wikipedia made me chuckle. :woot: :yay:

It was the ultimate flipping the bird to Singer and the big thumbs up along with a smile to the Logan fanatics.

Wow, that wiki article is so mature. This is official my last post in this thread because of it.

Last Sunrise your signature is a bit hypicritcal too. How can you be a defender of the comics and yet trust in Nolan or support Singer's X-MEN INO.

Nolan, I cut more slack than anyone else cause he had to take a big broom and clean up a hella lotta mess that the previous films made.

As for Singer, see him getting credit for writing that first POS film, makes me want to set his lawn on fire. But no more than those who hired the hack knowing full well he didn't know a damn thing about the characters going in, which is painfully obvious.

Here's the ironic thing about X4, very much like BB, means whoever is in charge, is going to have three previous films to clean up.

But as of right now, nothing would please me more than to see Marvel end like Neon Genesis Evangenlion. Just nuke everything and make EVERYONE DIE, leave Wolverine alive, totally alone, old, slowly dying, and miserable. That way everyone wins. Or Galactus comes and eats everyone. The end.

Lets see how people swallow that. Enough is enough.

..............................try this with me. Breathe in Breathe out.

:)

I Trust Nolan too, he did a good job. Batman is my second fav character and the only thing that dissapointed me was that he didn't give me his detective aspect but more his ninja side. Other than that i loved the movie. :)

@Goddess- I have said many, many times that I have acknowledged the mistakes Singer made with X1/X2. I've stated many times that I wish he concentrated more on Cyclops, Storm, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, and so forth. Nowhere have I said that his films were perfect and that he is removed from criticism. I simply believe that he did a much better job in terms of the story and while not overly faithful to the characters, the themes themselves were still very much intact in terms of the X-Men.

As for Batman Begins? Nolan did an amazing job with the film. I truly believe he captured the very essence of Batman and how he's supposed to be depicted based off of Year One, Hush, Arkham Asylum, and The Long Halloween.

Only issue I had with Nolan's Batman Begins was the lack of detective work, the fight sequences, and not seeing more Scarecrow. :csad:

I will say that it feels great to be back in the haters thread. Seems like I have my own couch, my own drink, and my own realm with my fellow X3 haters on the SHH! forums.

With that said, how is everyone doing tonight? I just got back from seeing Zodiac and it was excellent. Planning on seeing it again tomorrow night.

Dang dude thats 6 hours worth of movie... the run time dissuaded me if thats even a word

Zodiac was awesome. It's two hours and fifty minutes of great acting, great storytelling, and an awesome tense atmosphere. Loved every minute of it.
