I think scienticially. This is the ultimate exploration. I don't want to be anally probed, dissected, or whisked away to another planet never to return. I merely want to see one, and I'm extremely curious about the possible cultural differences or discoveries the aliens have made. I'm curious about what technological advancements are possible. I'm curious about any religous beliefs they might have.
Was Charles Darwin insane? Or was he a curious scientist? Are astronauts insane? Every single one of them would most likely make the same choice I would. That's why they are Astronauts. You should really expand your imagination, because your coming off as closed right now.
You spelled "scientifically" wrong.
But I see what you mean. Yes, it would be interesting to see what could be learned from ETs, but from what we've heard (assuming "abductees" are telling the truth) the aliens are more interested in studying us than in letting us study them.

Sometimes the movie's got it right, and other times they got it wrong. Not to mention from an evolution perspective an alein species that is intelligent enough to screw in a light bulb is not resemble a gigantic beast. yeah it will look creepy and scary, but it's body will not be a huge weapon and it's head will not be a weapon either.
