Hmmm he does have a point in it. No previous live action version of Superman has come this close to the brink of death sacrificing his life for the people of Earth. The odds were fierce.

Superman took a lot of suffering in Returns. He gets sliced with a Kryptonite shard, plummets to the ocean depths...and uses all of his remaining strength to soar New Krypton into space, while also dealing with even more Kryptonite. And that's not forgetting the other things he did to save Metropolis.

Yep, I think Returns was Superman's biggest physical AND emotional challenge yet.

Wow, the best Superero movie of 2006. It was up against some real stiff competition. The horror of Ratner's X-3 and V for Vendetta which 9 people saw. Boy what an honor.

WOW those IGN people need to wash their eyes but then again SR had no real competition since there was only X3 and V for Vendetta. I'd like to see supes go up against spiderman or batman begins. He woul get slaughtered.

Ummm....a 5/10 would be mediocre. A 7/10, or 3.5/5 stars is actually a good review.

Well IMO V4V was fantastic! But SR was the slightly better movie for me, only slightly though, and V4V is very popular on the internet, so for SR to beat it on an internet web-site is no easy feat!

I think when a site announces something as "THe Best" is usually something that is voted upon or decided my more the one person.
You know all the staff of IGN naming what they think is the best superhero movie of '06 and SR coming out as the winner.
Movies are revieed by just 1 person meaning it's the just the opinion of that person who reviewed it. Granted the review is posted as "IGN"s review" but it's still the opinion of 1 person whereas the awards are just many people deciding.

Exactly, the particular person who reviewed SR on its release obviously thought it didnt deserve more than a 7, but collectively, all of the reviewers there obviously thought SR was great.

you know, i fully agree that sr is the best comic adaption of the year (i think 1 of the best ever) but their movie reviews really get me mad. ok they give it a 3.5/5 when its reasled, but a 8/10 when it hits dvd. same with spiderman 1 & 2. they give both a 3.5/5 but then a 8 & 9/10 when it hits dvd. then they name spiderman 2 the 3rd best comic adaption ever, like they never gave it a 3.5. they do this with alot of movies see it for yourself if your curious. either way sr was easily was the best comic adaption of the year even if fell sort of exepections. i mean 200 mil still means alot people saw it BUT ive been off topic for a while now so im done.

i am not suprised that peopel think that it is better than x3. but V? i bet that 90% dont even know that it is a comic book movie. and it is mroe a story movie than an action movie.
