they cant do enough with those budgets......man...

You have to be kidding me right ?

Hulk with it's 120 million did have some awesome CG animation. Extremely realistic. The only problem was that it featured hulk but didn't have nearly enough action .

Iron Man seems even easier to do. The only complexity of the scenes seem to be flying shots. Metal can be animated in an extremely realistic or dare i say photorealistic way.

With both projects at ILM i do think that the money spent on those movies will be enough. I'm sure that ILM will use the technology they used on POTC to create even better CG characters.
I think that a 140 million for both movies seems reasonable.

Edit :
Also i think that Marvel is trying to find cost effective ways to shooting the movies ( such as Hulk shooting in Canada) so that more money can be spent on the VFX. One should consider that too. The more money you save by shooting in for example cheaper place , the more money you put into the VFX budget.

You do realize that each of the Lord of the Rings films were made for $100 million, right?

That's plenty of money to do what they need to do.

$100-160 Million is alot to make a film, early estimates for Iron Man were $65-75 Million so an extra $85 Million is a very good thing.

No, that's not strictly accurate. Lord of the Rings was made as one big film for about $300m. Dividing it into three for $100m each isn't correct; the budgets would be much higher if all three were made individually. Clearly Return of the King cost more money than The Two Towers, for example.

Really??? thats the reason that movies (like Superman Returns) are overbudgeted now, because the studios think like you.

Spidey 1 was done for 140mil and so was Curse of the Black Pearl and Hulk was done for 137mil. Sure Spidey's effects weren't great alot of the time but they got the job done and Pirates were just fantastic.

To be honest gentlemen, what in god's name do you know about this stuff? It's pretty incredulous to point at one movie's budget then compare it to another. Since there are so many factors to it that we are not privy to, for example someone mentioning LoTR wasn't privy to the fact ti was shot all at once. You people don't know anything about this stuff, neither do I, so to make these assumptions is quite asinine.
