Dark Phoenix I'm guessig FOX didn't bother to hire a real director for this movie cause they knew

Wow. Considering that the majority of those movies from those directors for marvel didn't just make immense money but also were highly rated by both critics and viewers, perhaps either it's your taste that's the problem, or superhero movies aren't the right genre for you
Preach. Comparing Marvel movies to Twilight movies... LOL.

Apocalypse is the third best cbm villain of all time! :o
How many "real directors" want to come into what is arguably the 10th X-Men film or so?

Especially after a poorly received prior film.

I don't think Fox even bothered to look for a "real director" for Dark Phoenix. That just shows that this franchise needs a creative change and a change of studio.

I never read about these director were highly rated by critics.
Indeed there was never a real positive focus about direction in their reviews.

I remember you the usa critics works in a sectorial way. They vote cinecomics as your teachers voted your homeworks: if you get the max, that isn't meaning you are Shakespeare, but your rate is compared to your school level.
And they like MCU 'cause Feige don't aim to reach Shakespeare's level but he want stay at school level. 'Cause, for critics, superhero must stay there.

Said that, you look at their filmography outside MCU and you get the point.

Imho the only real directors work in cinecomics are (in not a particulary order): Donner, Burton, Raimi, Singer, Mangold, Branagh, Snyder (and also fallimentary like Schumacher, who made one of the worst movie)

I put Joel Schumacher for a reason. That's not a primary matter of quality ('cause quality is a mix of various thing) but medium's language.

I'm not a Kinberg fan but every director got their start somewhere right? Just unfortunate it's X-Men DP

Yes. Out of all the films that Fox is making, it had to be the X-Men!

Most first-time directors don't have the ego to start with a big budget movie as their directorial debut and they also don't call themselves the Grandfather of the X-men movies, much to the chagrin of everyone around him. :oldrazz:

Like you said it's unfortunate he had to make his debut with the X-men. I'm jealous of all these other franchises getting all these far more talented filmmakers as their director and we're stuck with this guy.

The X-Men aren't Star Wars to Fox. :o I think this is the one franchise from Fox that they were able to release ten films without a full reboot, so its bothering to me when they made the ultimate sin to hire Kinberg as director of Dp.

Well, I am optimistic that Marvel Studios would find a better person to direct a X-Men film in the not so distant future.

i see mcu fanatics are keeping it classy not.

it will be funny when they discover simon kinberg after sale continues to work at lucasfilm and disney films and tv.heck he ould even endup directing a star wars film.

Bahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Can you imagine the amount of hate mail Disney would get for that?!

I was under the impression he's already involved with them.

I think it's inevitable.

Simon Kinberg has been attached to Star Wars since Star Wars Rebels.... But its been years since then. No way he would a direct a Star Wars film especially after Dark Phoenix comes out next year.

...Unless of course Dark Phoenix is a huge hit. If it's a success he'll get Star Wars, no doubt about it.

Huge hit and good movie are entirely different things. Go ask the Transformers franchise.

Kennedy and Marshall are notoriously picky about who they hire to helm their films. I doubt they would get Kinberg to direct if DP isn't a "good movie."

I don't know about that. They hire cheap and manageable.

Cheap and manageable and still gets a fresh Rt rating? Sure. And you can't wait for Dark Phoenix directed by Kinberg.

I start to thinking that many of you don't know how RT works.

The Fresh % doen't mean how good is a movie.

only Fox fanatics know how good are the movies, and depending on the studio, of course.

I know how Rt works. A fresh rating means majority of the critcsgave it a passing grade/review/score. Which cannot be said to the film that featured "the 3rd best cbm villain of all time". Can't wait for you to dismiss Rt and critics for your reply.

You are really gonna come across as condescending and a know it all to people who have been discussing these stuff in a message board for over a decade now?

So you should know that to have a fresh rating doesn't mean nothing in itself, a 6/10 (if we wanna speaking with vote) could have 100% fresh on RT while a Godfather-like movie could have less.

And, above all, it's an aggregator so there is no sense in make a mix of critics with different point of view.

As if you go to several doctors and make a mix of their prescriptions in place of take fo good the one from the doctor you trust more.

So, what is the point to refer to RT if no to say "mine is bigger than yours"

After the fan reaction of the Last Jedi. Hiring Simon Kinberg as a director would be the last they'd do.
