Now that I think about it -- especially if Joker's appearance does go through stages -- I kind of wish they hadn't released that photo.

Here's what I mean: that image is kind of a spoiler, in its way. If that disfigurement is something that happens during the course of the movie, it would be way more shocking and have a much greater impact if it were held back until the film is actually released. If I had no idea that was coming, when it inevitably unspooled, I'd probably be thinking that nothing was safe, anything could happen, etc.

So much material was released on Spider-Man 3 that I haven't even needed to bother to go see it. I know what happens. I've seen the fight scenes, I've seen some of the dramatic scenes.

I know it's obviously up to me to look away, and I've definitely done some of that. But when the knowledge is out there, you stumble onto it in forums accidentally, or a friend mentions something they assumed you already knew, etc.

I really hope Warners doesn't put too much out there. Though, with Spider-Man 3's box office through the roof that opening weekend, studios probably think that's the best marketing these days. But I really want Nolan's movie to surprise me.

Thoughts?

I agree with you. The truth is hollywood don t give a rat about fans. Now that they see comics is a huge potential, they decided to trow comics book fan in the garbage and satisfy the regular foe who don t make the difference between Shrek and Hulk.

I was really curious to see what he looked like, so I'm glad they released it. The Joker's look is the only spoiling I want, I'm trying to avoid plot details and things like that.

ive yet to see spiderman 3 also.its made someone a lot of money, but the reviews are 10 to 5 against on this site alone.cant believe im saying this, but ill wait for when the dvd comes out.

I think it was good so people could get used to it.
It really doesn't show much. It's just his face. No hair, no clothes, no smile so he's not even in character. Personally, I was glad that it put an end to all the speculation and ****ty Photoshop manips.

Actually theres a blurry picture of the new joker with green hair and I m kind of disappointed. I know Joker has green hair but this is too flashy!

This is why fans will never ever be pleased because something is always wrong

i agree, i kinda wish they would've chosen a different pic for the first one, something like the hi res one, enough to make out its the joker but not enought to see his face perfectly

The only other picture of the Joker is the one of him behind the glass. I don't know what's so flashy about his green hair.

I'm looking forward to getting a peek at Heath's Joker when the trailer comes out, but i don't want to see too much of the film before i go see it in theatres. I know a guy who stayed spoiler/trailer-free from LOTR: The Two Towers before it came out just so that he would be blown away when he went to go see it. Imagine that? Not seeing an ounce of footage before seeing a highly-anticipated blockbuster flick? That would be so hard, but so awesome!

I don't think i'd have the will power to do something like that for a film i was so eagerly awaiting.

You raise some interesting points, that are perfectly valid. I suppose ultimately we each have to make our own personal choice as to how much we want to know about a movie's plot and spoiler material before we view it in a theatre.

For me, it's a fine line. I think I crossed that line last time with Begins, and I'm trying harder this time around to refrain from peeking around the corner so to speak. But it is hard.

I'm glad they released that photo, makes me wanna go see it even more now.

I def agree that sony released way too much info on spiderman 3, the best action scene in the movie against harry at the start was released in just about complete form and then a few weeks before ign had posted videos of the entire crane rescue and most of the subway fight with sandman!!! i kno its up to us not to look at this stuff but it is difficult!!!

i'm trying to avoid any info on the dark knight tho, hence why im in this forum!! and isnt that pic of joker a little too much of a spoiler for this forum btw?!(kind of agree with antoine that the green hair is abit too "crazy" for a hopefully realistic film)

BUT no one beheaded us to take a peek at this photos and spoilers. May be the force be with you.

i think the pic its self is really cool but i really regret seeing it the shock value is gone:trans: :hyper: :ninja:

I agree, they should only release a few spoilers, just to tease you

Meh...what can ya do? It's to be expected. WB need some sort of visual to promote the film, so it's no surprise some thing are going to be spoiled. It's a necessity to selling it to the mainstream audience.

I'm glad the photo was released. Looks twisted. Really plays up the new messed-up, psychotic, murderous Joker that I hope to see.

i agree that i much prefer goin into a film and experiencing it with as little knowledge as possible. i dont understand people who find out as much as they can beforehand. lets face it you can never watch a film for the first time again
