This guy wanted Punisher to have humor in it and a tone similar to Hellboy. Uhhh hell no! The script was TOO serious for him. Hell that's what we've all wanted. I'm really confused now because the rumor was that Tom Jane was pissed they wanted too much humor in the storyline....oh wait a freaking second. Hmmmm...if Dahl was pushing for more of a comic booky humorous tone that would have turned Jane off. Not having Hensleigh sealed the deal. I also know for a fact the new script is more violent and more bloody than the first one. Ok so now we know the script is NOT that. What the hell?

Yeah, I read that a bit ago and thought "Oh wow... I really don't like that at all."

Just because the script is violent and not comic booky, doesn't mean that its good.

^ Yeah true but that's not the damn point. The point is good script or not we can almost all agree we don't want the Punisher to be mixed with quirky Hellboyish comedy.

No, but and I know this sounds stupid on the surface but hear me out: Doing justice to the character that you adapt is the most important thing, quality is secondary.

People go to see movies like these because they want to see Batman or Spider-Man or whatever on the big screen, that's the main thing. I'd much rather watch a mediocre Punisher movie that I felt was true to the spirit of the character, than a really good romantic comedy musical Punisher movie.

Now what John Dahl wanted was nowhere near that extreme, but I just don't think that it would really suit the character, regardless of how good it might be.

I wasn't saying that it would be good if it had extreme amounts of humor. In fact thats not the movie I want at all. I'm just saying that jane's issues with it may have been different(i hope to god they were) than Dahl's.

Right now we're all second guessing everything. Very soon we'll probably know for sure what's going on. Man I wish Tom Jane would clear things up. He was the only one keeping our faith in the sequel alive.

The first punisher was full of comedy and you guys loved it.

Dahl sounds like he knows dark comedy, I don't know why he brought up hellboy but I don't think he would have done it like that.
