^ Marvel will get Elektra and Daredevil rights back which includes Kingpin. Imagine they got Punisher back and they worked in a Kingpin storyline.

Now that would be awesome......well as long as Jane was playing The Punisher. I admit, it is completly possible someone else could do better than Jane. I just was hoping for him to be in the sequel, a darker and grittier sequel, in New York. As far as the Taxi Driver stuff, I think he meant just in tone and feel. Dirty ghetto scumbag vibe going on around the character.

If they cancel they lose the rights unless they renegotiate with Marvel. Marvel may agree to renegotiate if they put Jane back in and hire the director he wants. That would mean Hensleigh back. We all want the best film. We all want Jane to stay but if he doesn't then there's more fish in the sea. What are we gonna do? Stew about it for years? LOL

Nope. We got our movie and now it's time to go the way of Daredevil and Elektra. Just let it go away and hope in 5 or 10 years Marvel gives us another Punisher movie.

If Marvel gets the rights back I hope they intro him in another film first as a supporting character and then spin him back off. I was kind of hoping they intro'd him in a Spidey film against Kingpin or something but those rights are all over the place right now.

Lexi Alexander is a great director. I think the movie could work with her behind it because she cares more about filmmaking than just the commercial aspect of it, and she knows you need good characters and stories in order to drive the action home.

Tom Jane doesn't own the role of the Punisher. It would be great to see him come back, if not than there are other choices. Maybe the next Punisher movie can be more of a reboot than just a sequel. Like with the new Hulk movie.

^ From what I understand it's kind of like how they're doing the Hulk film. It's not really a sequel though on a timeline it takes place after the first film. It's good as a stand alone film too.

I will say, I think Lexi Alexander is a great director. Her first feature, Green Street Hooligans is a damn good movie. I got to meet her at SXSW where the movie got top honors and she's a really cool lady.

I think she'd be a much better choice and director then Hensleigh if they ever wanted to do another Punisher film.

I have no problem with her directing. Sequels a lot of times has different directors, but I cannot stand when the main character is replaced with another actor and as far as I'm concerned Tom Jane owns that character.

Tom Jane did an awesome job with that character. He didn't own it quite as well as Snipes did Blade but he was damn close. I'll miss him. I pray Marvel grabs the rights cause I know Jane and company would jump back on. The big problem was the 1st film did poorly at the box office for many reasons. Competition, poor marketing, awareness, and it reaked of lack of funds.

Agreed. I read the news of the new actor today, and I was very disappointed. Coincidentally, I'm watchin The Punisher on FX as I type this, and I don't want to see anyone but Jane playing Castle. He pulls the role off too well to be replaced, and it really takes away my desire for a sequel if Jane isn't The Punisher.

There's what like 5 or 6 billion people on the planet. Do you think Tom Jane is the best choice out there..and nobody else can fill this character's shoes? Nobody even brought up this guys name in casting threads for the 1st film or this sequel. I don't have any preformed opinion on Ray Stevenson at all which is a good thing. Tom did a great job but it's not impossible for someone to do better. If this guy does a decent job and the movie itself is better than the 1st one then it could be an overall better film. I think it's just a fear of the unknown here.

Thing is, though, that we've known Jane wasn't coming back for over 2 months now. So it's really a non-issue at this point, and it's not even like he was fired, HE was the one who backed out from the project.

What success? It did 53 million worldwide theatrically. The DVD saved it...barely.

Obviously nothing at the Con. That's really weird to me cause I heard for sure it was gonna be officially announced. Is there trouble still at Lionsgate over this franchise? Do they NOT have the time to make it or is Marvel putting pressure on them to NOT make the film because of the negativity??? Something is up.
