I personally can not wait for this. I was curious, has it ever been clarified as to what part of the film will be the 20 minute 3D extrvaganza since the film has yet to be released?

I will go to see it in my nearest 3D IMAX theatre ;)

The bad thing it that theatre isn't so near and the ticket will be a bit expensive :D

I feel you man. It's at least 3 hours for me to get to an IMAX theatre. But I mean come on, it's the return of Superman, it's worth it.

Now where do we stand on the 20 minute segement? Anyone?

I will go to see it in IMAX in only August (in my country film will be released only on Jule 20th or 27th).

So I will do it, even if it takes me 45 mins to get it.

I can't wait to see this movie in 3D. I hope the plane sequence is some of what's in 3D, how cool would that be? I'm thinking i'll do 3D for my second showing though, as I'll probably spend my first viewing practically comatose and drooling from the awesomness of the film and I wont be able to put on the glasses.

From my understanding it's not going to be one 20 minute sequence but 4 seperate sequences totaling 20 minutes of the film. There is going to be a green glasses animation on the screen for the start of the sequence and a red glasses animation on the screen to signal the removal of the 3D glasses.

In a related note, I was traveling up 95/128 North here in Massachussetts and passed one of the newer Imax theaters. There is a huge Superman Returns billboard right on the side of the building. It is very similar to the Imax Superman Returns Poster. There is a tilted \S/ logo on the right and the Superman Returns wordmark on the left both on a blue background.

I didn't know about the 4 parts. Sounds cool. As does the billboard.

The only way to see this film is in the IMAX format, both regular and 3-D. Batman Begins was much better on an IMAX screen as well.

Go see it at a regular crap theater after........

I think they said one scene where Clark takes his glasses off looking at himself as Superman, that particular scene was in 3-D

I wouldn't recommend that, you miss alot of the overall shot when seeing it in Imax. Also, if you have a theater with digital screens than I would definately recommend seeing it there first before Imax. :)

I'll be seeing it at the regular theatre first. The IMAX experience will be great, but I think you'll be able to see everything better in a regular screen. I wish I had one of those digital screen theatres. Clear, crisp and just alright with me.

Will the ticket boothes be handing out 3-D shades or is there a certain thing you have to buy (like a DVD) in order to get them?

Hmm, I guess they would hand them out when you go to buy the ticket.

They hand them out at the door if I remember correctly.

I sure hope so. I can't wait for it, though i think i'm going to save the "3-D" experience for my second viewing! I get tired of wearing those things and I don't want them on my face the first time i watch SR.

Nah, if you sit near the back in an IMAX theatre it's way better than the regular digital screen IMO. Not to mention the sound is better as well.

IMAX is the ticket, no question.

Good point.

I am going to do the digital 1st and then hit the Imax the second time. I will probably see it about 4 times with different people.

Ditto!

Ill raise your challenge of 4 to 5, anyone want to raise it higher?

Does anyone know how long theaters show movies on the Imax? I plan to drive up to Denver in mid july to see family and I want to got to the Imax and see SR.

Oh and I plan on seeing this movie 3 or 4 times just in the opening week.

The sound of the IMAX experience is amazing, not to mention the overwhelming visual feast.

I really can't wait to get tweaked on magic mushrooms and see this movie in 3D Imax.

Audience members will need to wear their 3D glasses for the four 3D scenes and for the movie preview trailers (the glasses should be removed for the other portions of the movie.)

There will be on-screen cues to direct the audience as to when they should put on and take off the glasses. The cues are:

Questions and Answers:
Q: How much of Superman Returns: An IMAX 3D experience is shown in IMAX 3D?

A: 4 segments lasting approximately 20 minutes in total.

Q: How were the IMAX 3D scenes created?

A: These scenes were created from digitally enhanced 2D film images using patented IMAX technology. This process enables the conversion of almost any 2D film into IMAX 3D. The film's director, Bryan Singer, chose the scenes for you to see in 3D.

Q: Why were the glasses symbol chosen as the on-screen cue and not something else?

A: The film's director selected this icon to allow for the least obtrusive cue possible and to maintain the integrity of the film.

Q: Why wasn't the whole film in 3D?

A: There wasn't enough time to convert the whole film given its production schedule. IMAX is working to improve the timing so it will be possible to fully convert entire films in the future.

Q: Which Hollywood films will be released in IMAX 3D next?

A: The next films to be released in IMAX theaters will all be full-length IMAX 3D animated features: The Ant Bully: An IMAX 3D Experience debuts on Aug 4th, Open Season: An IMAX 3D Experience debuts on Sept. 29th and Happy Feet: An IMAX 3D Experience debuts on Nov. 17th (or insert appropriate release dates for your theater.)
