If this is true, I am disappointed. I was fine with Ledger but I really don't know if I could get used to Phillippe as Dent. I wanted someone older and more grittier, like Liev or John Cusack.

I totally agree here. I will definetly support Phillippe if he does nab the part, but I think someone in this role needs to show, and look, the part of authority right from the the get go. Phillippe just doesn't do that for me.
