The Dark Knight Rises Hold your pants: did Caine forgot to take his medicine?

I think Depp is a great actor, I just don't want to see him as the Riddler.

It wasn't like Gore Verbinski created Jack Sparrow, or Bruckhiemr or Elliot and Russo that was a 100 percent Depp

Bought life to the screen, sure. But Depp didn't create Jack Sparrow, unless he was directly involved with the script by adding Sparrow scenes in pre-production.

From all reports outside of the words written on the screen play everything else was Depps idea

It's how you sell a character and script, what's on the pages. Anyone can read lines and it's how they convey those lines from body to air.

Technically every actor (unless you're improv-ing or the writer) is updating something, or taking/borrowing/repeating lines from someone elses' ideas. But of course we don't say that, because its how they make those lines "their own" that determine their "talent/worth". This is similar to the practice of a car salesman, or any salesman for that matter. They try to get you to believe that this is the best product for you (unless they are deathly honest) It's the same principle.

Some actors choose to "dive" into their roles to extremes more than others.

I wish I had any recent Batman stuff

Riddler should be cold and calculating showing no emotion atall untill he realizes hes been out-smarted.

Yea that would be sweet. Throughout the whole movie he comes across as just a obsessive nerd, showing no real physical threat what so ever. Then when his plan has been foiled or even worse Batman highlights a mistake he himself has made, he explodes with rage and actually comes across quite frightening. Thats what i think would represent Riddler best, not just his plan being ruined, but him finding out that it was HIMSELF who made the mistake.

I'd like Riddler to actually pose some physical threat to Batman, even if he doesn't show it at first like in your scenario.

Yeah he is great in all his performances, I just can't imagine him playing the Riddler. I think Guy Pearce, Paul Bettany would be better suited for the Riddler.

Yea thats what i meant, at first he just comes across as a wimpy nerd. But when he is made out to be a fool he explodes with rage and is very dangerous.

Yeah that sounds about right to me...but I don't want him to look like a wimpy nerd. That's one of the main reasons I've never liked the Riddler in the comics. He's too generic for my tastes. I did like what they did with him in The Batman though, his look was alot better, and he could actually fight.

Jeffrey Donovan or Guy Pearce would suit that type of Riddler.

Me neither, and it's for the same reason i don't want to see Jolie as Catwoman...cause it's too obvious.

well if we've learned anything from TDK, it's that Nolan has this great ability to cast against the expectation. So whoever plays the Riddler, you know that Nolan's picked the right guy.

never forget, people....
