Both. I have carpeted floors in my bedroom so I wear shoes everywhere else in my apartment.

I don't actively try to keep them on, but I don't honestly mind either way. So I voted No.

I don't walk around barefoot because I consider that a tad gross, but socks or slippers normally.

Of course you do.

I generally don't walk about barefoot because it can be a little dangerous. I had a friend who broke her foot because she accidentally kicked a chair leg when walking around barefoot. If she had been wearing sandals or slippers, her foot might have been more protected.

Usually, but we have hardwood floors, which hurt my feet. So it depends on what I will be doing. Staying in for a long time then yes, possibly going back out within a relatively short period of time, then probably not.

If I'm at home, I go barefoot. Anyone elses I go in socks unless I wore sandals or something where it wouldn't be appropriate not to wear something.

Always off.

I used to think that Americans kept their shoes on inside the house, but then I realized that the only reason I thought that was because in movies, the characters always have their shoes on.

Damn you, Hollywood!
Come to think of it, that is true. In real life Americans usually take their shoes off when entering their home. In shows and movies they always keep them on

Probably because they want to keep a certain look for the film/ TV show - eg a person in heels etc, and they also don't want to spend time with a scene showing people removing them unless it's already written into it.

But it's not in every film/ TV show that it's like that. In the Avengers, Pepper Potts walked around Stark's house in her tiny shorts and bare feet, which was all the better because she looked hotter than if she were wearing heels. And I've seen other instances where a character is relaxing without shoes.

So I don't think it's all the time in movies and shows. If someone is relaxing, then they are often without shoes. If there is a sufficiently large gathering, like at a party, then usually people don't remove their shoes. But it's pretty much like that in real life as far as I've experienced. I never see guests removing their shoes for a large house party for any of those I've been to.

IF you're just at home lounging around and you have your normal everyday shoes on, something is wrong with you. :o

I don't even wear pants around the house most of the time, so if I wore shoes it would be even more weird.

Unless you have nasty-ass feet or never change socks, I don't see a problem with not wearing shoes around the house.

True. It sounds so out there, to even imagine there are actually people who would leave their shoes on chilling at home  Weird :o

Once I get home (from work or shopping or whatever), if I dont have anywhere else to go then I will take my shoes off but if I know I'll have to go back out then I'll leave them on. When guests come over we pretty much leave it up to them since our carpets are old and we don't have any young children. Most of the time though when they see we aren't wearing shoes they will take theirs off.

was that supposed to look hot? I thought she was like that to be comfy.

I figured this when my friend caught me staring at another chick, and then told me that part of of the tiny shorts' appeal is that they're comfortable.

I wear a suit to relax in at home, but wear dress shoes only at special times like during sporting events or Xbox.

I always tougth the 90% of the world keep their shoes on all day, like me, and that only some very traditional Japanese people took their shoes off at home.

I still find it weird. My house, and most houses in México are made for people who keep their shoes on all day. It feels vulnerable to be barefoot even in your own home. And many people believe it causes or worsens the flu, just like they think cold causes and worsens it.

Your friend is sloppy as hell. How the f*** does that happen?

I really try to take my shoes off... But I get Lazy! :woot:

I only take'em off if my feet need air or if I'm going to bed or a shower/bath. Otherwise they stay on. Also I live in a highly urbanized area(concrete jungle) with not much mud or dirt around unlike out in the country so I'm never really tracking crap into the house and if some schmutz did get on my shoes then I'd clean them off before entering. But there's no cultural thing whatsoever about taking your shoes off around here. This is America dammit. ;)
