In The Multiverse Of Madness Spoiler Discussion Thread

It isn't like this is the first one to have a silly post credits scene. Just at the top of my head, Schwarma in Avengers, the Cap speech about patience in Homecoming, Tony falling asleep telling Banner his story in IM3, etc. There are PLENTY of MCU movies with silly post credits scenes
Schawrma was a great call back though imo
Cap patience I remember people hating it
Ant-Man had the ant playing guitar
GOTG had Groot doing something I think

It has been awhile since both credit scenes mattered or they do a credit scene and trailer. I think Widow had the Dr.Strange trailer right?

You mean the MoM trailer? That was No Way Home.

Oh and you absolutely needed to watch WandaVision beforehand. They referenced the events so people who hadn't would be "filled in" but you would definitely be a little lost if you didn't watch it.
To be fair, they made it clear when Wandavision was coming out that it was always going to be connected to MoM.

I know. I'm just letting others know. I watched WandaVision but I'm sure not everyone in my theater did

Got back from seeing it just a little bit ago. I liked it....my daughter absolutely loved it.

I had no problem with the alternate universe heroes dying....they served their purpose of introducing the character or group into the MCU.

I personally was sad that Wanda was the bad guy....I like the character so want them to be good.

My daughter loved the America character. She wants to see more of her.

I thought it was funny we got a taste of the Marvel Zombies comics in it.

I'm a Bruce Campbell fan, so it was nice to see him.

Many fans have been saying they want Krazinsky for Reed Richards the lst few years...it was nice to see him....hope to see him more.

I’m ok with Black Bolt dying so quickly but Reed should have put up more of a fight. I can understand saving the full display of his powers for his own movie. But just completely wasted here.
Assuming Thanos had the Infinity stones at least the reality stone couldn't he have done something similar to Wanda and just killed Black Bolt. He can be very strong and easy to beat if someone has the ability to cover his mouth.

Just watched it and loved it!

I think my favorite part is also my least favorite part...the Illuminati.

Great seeing all of them but lord did they go out really easily. For most of them I wouldn't have minded so much but they all "we can take care of Wanda dream walking" and then most of them go down fairly quickly.

Professor X must have a weakness against Red Heads because.....Jean kills him while they are battling it out in the mind and Wanda does the same here. I would expect Xavier to take more control than he did.

But like I said, loved the film. Raimi was definitely the right choice as director, he did a great job with the horror aspect of the film. It feels unique and stands out from the remainder of the MCU.

Before the movie I was REALLY hoping that our Wanda was just being used as I wanted a way for her to be redeemed but 616 Wanda.....can't. I was also expecting this to start merging other characters to the 616-verse but I guess we'll see if that happens further down the line. Unless they decide to introduce another Earth to start telling stories on along with this one.

This movie is REALLY torn between people who LOVE Sam Raimi and those who hate his sensibility.

Some people HATE the horror elements being brought into the MCU but I'm honestly happy about it.

Make no mistake...I for one LOVE Horror. I actually prefer it to superheroes. What I am bored with is Raimi's shtick. It isn't Horror...its silly. Had Scott Derickson directed this film but left out the Raimi-isms in directing choices I'd have probably liked it more.

I still can't believe that Marvel had no problem with Wanda easily killing off the Illuminati in this film. Variants or not, they pretty much just cheapened the value of most of their prominent heroes.

How do you present future threats if Wanda is already too OP? This is pretty much another BvS situation where the previous lead lead had his sequel hijacked by another character.

I dont see that at all. Wanda was the villain in this story, so the Illuminati basically were jobbers. They are there to make her look strong. They served that role. This is a Doctor Strange film through and through. The movie centers around Strange's lack of happiness and Wanda is an evil mirror of that. She allows her obsession with her children to drive her to evil. Other Strange variants were obsessed with "being the surgeon" and likewise made that path to evil. Ultimately this is a story about Strange realizing to trust others and to find what makes him full.

I saw the film and it's a mix bag for me. I'm not a horror guy. It's not my style of filming so that didn't sit well with me. The film feels like it's two films, the first half is the standard MCU formula that I enjoyed and love, the second is more suspense with a dash of horror and gore in the way the Scarlet Witch just goes on a rampage with getting her desire. The third act is Raimi unleashed with his camera technique and horror roots.

The Multiverse exploration is nice, I kinda wanted more. I loved the cameos of multiverse version of the Illuminati members especially a very fantastical member.

I thought the movie was alright. Kinda surprised they didn't bring in Paul Bettany in this movie. Him being an additional voice of reason, in an alternate universe, or confirmation that Wanda's character had been taken over by the Darkhold would have gave the movie more umph for Wanda.

It does not cheapen them
Wanda had the Dark Hold and was hellbent on getting what she wanted, Reed Richards was the only Illuminati that mattered for future MCU movies. They have Danvers as CM not her friend, Peggy was fan service nothing more was she even a super soldier? They already did Inhumans show that flopped so they won't get a movie likely the only Black Bolt appearance, Xavier is not a fighter.

Wanda was strong enough to hang with Thanos but so was Thor in IWs so he can be OP. Dr.Strange can now be OP because he used the book and a sorcerer.

So when they were crossing multiverses which ones were easy to notice?
Seems like they had a zombie or death kind of one
was the under water spot Atlantis so Namor?
I didn't watch What if? but they had cartoon
Dinosaur like one maybe it was Savage Land in another reality
paint must have been a throw in
Mephisto Realm or Hell?

If he was part of the Illuminati it would have been nice, the group can't have too many brains. The Ultron bots could have been things he made too after fixing that universe Ultron.

Wait people are actually pissed off about the Illumati getting slaughtered??

Feige have fans what they wanted. I never expected more from them.

people were pissed off about Tony getting offed too. and rightly so.

hahaha. It'll actually be really funny if she didn't

Strange: Waitaminit. You mean to tell me that you didnt think to politely ask her permission BEFORE deciding to try sucking her soul?

America can't control her powers and Wanda's clearly been influenced/corrupted by the Darkhold.

i wish they showed us this conflict better - it would make her a bit more sympathetic - instead i just hate her now.

I will do a lengthier review later, but in general I like this movie a lot. It was maybe a tad rushed, but that would be my biggest criticism.

I think I have a theory on why Scott Derrickson left:

Given the title is a play on In the Mouth of Madness, my bet is the original idea for this film was more Eldrich horror with demons and entities as the villain. But someone, probably Feige, decided to make Wanda the villain properly. Same with the addition of the Illuminati.

Just my personal theory. I don't have any basis for it

honestly, i would have been fine if they just made the villain Mephisto or Doom

yeah i dont understand how and why the alternate X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Inhumans would just let Wanda dispatch their leaders like that. You are going to have some fallout over that if it was the 616 verse let me tell you...I hope they jump mulitiverses and the remaining members dispatch Wanda as vendetta.

but why use them as examples? why not use lesser, not as beloved characters (Black Bolt was fine imho but they crossed the line with Reed and Xavier)? i bet they wouldnt use Spidey as a jobber..that wouldnt play so well to audiences. And I am sure this didnt either.
