Watching it again. I feel this is the movie that feels most in the Marvel universe.
Multiple S.H.I.E.L.D. references, Leader set-up & Tony Stark in the end. It makes me really amped up for the Avengers.

In the scene where Abomination & Hulk are hanging from a helicopter & Abomination knocks Hulk a loose for a brief second what is that strange random music that is played out of nowhere during that scene? I've been refering to it as the X-Box 360 music cameo but it that what it actually is?

Did anyone buy the dvd from Circuit City and get the interactive game card exclusive? I was just wondering what it contained.

Ouch, TiH kinda tanked in the second week of sales. It dropped over 75%, selling less than 500,000 copies. Total domestic DVD sales (not including blue ray) is up to $56.7 million. Oh, and Tinkerbell topped the Hulk!

That's a little disappointing but it seems to be following the same pattern as its box office run. I expected a noticable drop-off by its second week but wow... :wow:

Maybe it can stabalize some and maintain a respectable unit number in the coming weeks.

Does this include rentals as well?

wtf, Tinker Bell, a straight to dvd low budget movie sold just as much as TIH in it's opening week? Ironman 5 million ahead of TIH is also pretty ugly. It will probably end up selling 3 times as much as TIH.

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. Also consider that last week around the time the first numbers were coming in Marvel had reported something like $69million in revenue from TiH DVDs from there quarterly report as of Nov 2. This number most likely reflects DVDs and Blue rays world wide, and may include rentals.

I've gone to my local Target store 3 times this week and all three times I went TIH was sold out completely at that store. As for the new releases that are beating the HULK, all I can say is a new Disney movie will usually wipe out any rival, simply because there are tons of parents buying those types of movies for their little ones. No big surprise here.

so do you think it's not selling as much as it could cuz they didn't make enough copies? I mean if it's sold out everywhere?

Well it's not sold out everywhere; I've seen several stores within the opening week that had many copies left over. I think that those who went to see it bought their copies and perhaps a little word of mouth moved units but the character unfortunately isn't as glamourous as Iron Man nor Batman.

I still believe that alot of people are still on the fence with this one due to Ang Lee's version being subpar. There might not be an accurate reason for this or it could be all of the reasons I've just given.
It's a pity really because this latest incarnation is sensational IMO.

However there is the possibility the TIH will get a good push in sales going into the holiday season.

It's a weak excuse, I know but I've heard a few people still claiming this reason as to why they have no interest in watching TIH.

Also, the fullscreen version seems to have been a waste of money for Marvel to make. One stockboy told me the other day that they can't even move that format of the film at the Wal-Mart he works at.

Hardly anyone buys fullscreen nowadays. Maybe it's just this particular store though.

If someone avoided it because of 2003's Hulk, they probably didn't devote any time to any footage, interviews, etc. It's a weak excuse for anyone under 25, but probably not for a lot of older moviegoers. I know several people who disliked Lee's Hulk, and simply had no interest this time around.

Personally, I think the studio waited to late to begin promoting the film. I remember talking about it in April/May, and having people ask, "They're making a new Hulk movie?" It's not too surprising that it got lost in the shuffle during the summer- especially with Iron Man and The Dark Knight getting so much attention.

I don't think this has been asked, but at my local Blockbuster, the single-disc comes with a free framed TIH comic book cover. Does anyone know if the frame can hang on the wall?

I've been reading articles that have said that DVD sales are down across the board. Not making excuses, but I'm sure it doesn't help. Hopefully December will pick things up a bit.

My DVD arrived from winning the the comment contest on yourgeeknews.com

http://www.yourgeeknews.com/the-incredible-hulk-dvd-review-and-giveaway

Mat and Nat sent me a signed card thanking me for my comments, and Matt included a copy of his director's cut of the movie where he edited all of the deleted scenes back in. It's pretty cool!

I didn't realize they are in Canada. The postage on the package is Canadian and everything on the DVD packaging is printed in English and French. It's still region 1 so it plays on my player just fine.

Don't know what I'll do with the DVD, probably sell it. It must be the same one they used to screen the movie since it was already opened. It makes me happy I bought the Target verion with the extra bonus features.

Precisely. People don't want to end up with another green turd on their bookshelves.

Now I'm not making lite of this horrific situation, nor am I downplaying the neccessity of having TiH in your DVD library, but killing someone to get their hands on the movie (or other items) is over-the-top wrong! I'm sure some of you have seen this report (be sure to read to the bottom):

It's shocking to see how materialism has infiltrated our concepts of right and wrong.

That's terrible. I'm glad I shop at target.

It's things like this that make me ask myself, what the hell was God thinking when he told his only son to die for us?

TIH's performance on DVD has been very solid, LTD. I'm not sure about BRD sales, but these current DVD numbers make TIH a success for Marvel on it's first 2 projects, and while IM was a runaway success for Marvel this year, the much more critical benchmark is to achieve success on every project, not attain IM levels. As it stands, the movie took in $262 million WW, so using standard split of 50% for Marvel/Paramount (it’s probably a little bit more), you’re looking at $131 million from the box office. You then add on the 68.2 million, and you’re looking at $199 million. I know Marvel doesn’t get 100% of DVD sales, but I’m not including BRDs or futures DVD sales. That’s about $200 million to cover cost for production and other cost. This doesn’t include toys and other merchandising, and it doesn’t cover TV rights and other streams of revenues, TIH is probably going to deliver millions in profit to Marvel. When compared to Iron Man, TIH wasn’t that impressive, but since when is millions in profits not a good thing? Quite honestly, the mild success for Marvel is a great opportunity to validate their business model on how they can achieve profitability on a movie, even if it’s not a run-away success. Based on this data, I can see absolutely no technical reason for Marvel not to proceed with a sequel. Now…they have to get things smoothed out with Norton, but once again, there is an opportunity for Marvel and Norton to work together on a script, over a long period, while shooting the Avenger’s project. …TIH 2 in 2012 is a very very promising option, imho.
