Pretty much what I figured from the pictures. It is disappointing, but what can you do.
Found these at Wal-Mart tonight. Everything was on the shelves & pegs including the new Hulk hands, face mask & Super Hero Squad. Obviously someone in the stock room didn't read the May 1st label on the box. Frankly I don't understand why Hasbro has these "do not sell" dates anyway. Sure it's cool if you're planning a midnight sale party at Toys R Us, but of course some stores are gonna put them out early, and how sad would it be if some 8 year old who really wants this stuff has to be told he's not allowed to buy them. And just by looking at them it's obvious these are geared towards kids. Painfully obvious, but more on that in a moment.
Of course they both rang up "Do Not Sell" at the checkout, but since there was a long line of disgruntled shoppers and no manager in sight the cashier entered the code manually so I paid for them and left with no incident.
Overall I'm disappointed in them. The Iron Man movie figures impressed me but these are too much out of scale for the $9.99 retail. The poseability is nice enough, although the joints seem a little loose on both characters. Like I said these are going to appeal more to (young) boys than collectors. I believe I read where deluxe versions with their human counterparts are coming later this year for $14.99, and if so I'd recommend waiting for them. Unless you want a Hulk to go in scale with your Star Wars figures 'cause that's really the only scale he measures up in. The comparison shots tell the story on that.
PS, I also scored some of the new Indiana Jones figures a week early and they're loaded with 100% awesomeness!
So there you have it...apparently Hulk sad because he as tall as puny banner. Sad sad hulk. I guess most of us will be waiting for the Fin Fang Foom build a figure line that's jam packed with Marvel Legends Hulk characters. On that same note, I thought I should mention that the Batman: Dark Knight figures are in the back rooms of Walmart as well, awaiting some miserable teenage stock boy to set them free. Go get em' champ!!
Thanks again to Gollum, who literally just took a bullet for us.
