And yet it's brilliant at the same time.

Yea, I agree. South Park, is truly a very deep, and satirical/philosophy based show, with many deep issues, meanings, and I always think in the end Trey and Matt are right. There is rarley a time I have disagreed with their views. They always seem to make sense of things, things that most would not touch with a 100 foot poll.

Yet at the same time, they do make dick and fart jokes. As they once put it. Yes there is very low brow humor within South Park, it is truly one of the deeper shows on television, with messages and meanings, usually just asking its viewers to open their eyes. They have touched upon all the issues no one else wants to, and that takes intelligence and balls. And then yes they add in low brow humor, but to me its a perfect mix.

As for the Indy thing, I liked Indy 4, but it was no where as good as the first three. Like the prequels, it seems George has ....lost it. He has forgotten what has made his movies great, instead he just wants technology to be the forefront of all his projects.

I agree with them to a degree, adding in Shia, and having such unrealistic, CGI based scenes, goes against everything Indy stands for. Even in the extras of the original trilogy for Indy, they said the whole point is to be computer graphic free for the most part, and be filmed like the old serials back in the day, where it was all real stunts, and adventure. And to me they threw that concept out the window for part 4.

And the alien thing though interesting, was not, mysterious enough, and to get to it just did not seem as much like an adventure in my opinion.

Nothing will be as good as the first three. But that is my views on it.

I was so disappointed in this movie.

With all due respect, the stunts were obviously done in such a way that Harrison's Ford's 65 year old body could put up with it.

Despite that fact that Harrison Ford was in amazing shape, for a 65 year old dude and he put out his best effort, it was obvious to me that he performed like a 65 year old would.

Also, can a 65 year old man really go toe-to-toe with a 30ish Russian super-soldier who is 6 inches taller and 50 lbs heavier?

What also got to me were the sequences where they showed the bullets and darts flying through the air like they showed on Xena.

Pick up "The Complete Making of Indiana Jones: The Definitive Story Behind All Four Films".

And to answer your question, the only reason Speilberg did IJ4 is the same reason Ford did...this series of movies is part of his legacy and he can't just sit by and let someone else do the film, as unenthusiastic he may be. The Indiana Jones character is his baby, just as much as it is Lucas' and Ford.
I read the book and i dont remember reading that anywhere :cwink:

If they hadnt all liked the story for Indy 4 at all i'm sure they would have been just fine leaving Indy in 3 films.

The Indy movie that i do know Steven doesnt like is TOD (It's on the extras of the dvd collection).

Only a few more days to go for the dvd woooohoooo! :woot:

I'm starting to get impatient with watching my 4 movie marathon.

I still think that TOD is the best sequel; they took a risk while Crusade played it safe (though I like all three).

I really don't know how he thinks of "Skulls" though. I'm sure deep down, he's dissapointed with it too.

Honestly,I'm not even sure I'd want to include Crystal Skull as part of the series, but maybe a stand alone film. I must say that although there were some parts I liked,I was disappointed with it. Aliens,Indy surviving a nuclear blast and then 3 drops from huge waterfalls,Shia swinging with monkeys,sub-par villains;etc.
Not a shining moment for Indy. So,I can understand the South Park episode(I caught it on tv the other night).
But I'm not going to criticize anyone else for liking the film. Everyone has the right to like,or not like the movie.

I thought all the films are stand alone? They each are great in there own different ways.

Well,I meen that since Crystal Skull was just SO different with the alien theme and since it wasn't as impressive to me as the previous 3 films, that I don't really like to think of it in the same league as the other movies.

Its because its been 20 years since the last film. With CG and everything. Not to mention it takes place in the 50's. I think that's why it feels so different. I felt you couldn't ignore what was going on then. The alien sightings, Area 51, the nuclear age, etc. I was just glad they put that in there. Just think, if all three films were made today, they'd all feel the same. But Temple feels the darkest, and this is the most... out there. :cwink:
I'm just glad they all feel different in tone. But again, the other three films felt more consistant becasue they were made around the same time frame. Three to five years apart isn't that long next to twenty years.

Exactly. Well said

Indeed, and they were the ones urging Lucas to come up with #4, so go figure.

Yep, and the one he came up with was not what they had in mind.

There was one script they liked wasn't there? The one by Darabount I believe? Ford liked it, Spielberg liked it, Lucas didn't.

Hence they went back to the drawing board and wala...KOTCS.

Darabonts script leaked a while back, and it was VERY similar to what we got in Crystal Skull.
