Did my marathon yesterday too. :yay: Awsome stuff. The fourth film fits in very well when just completeting the first three. I love how it's so consistant with the other three. It fits in much better than I thought it would. It now definately feels like just another great Indiana Jones adventure/film. :yay:
I agree, it fits better than i expected it to. I did find the deaths of Marcus and Henry a lot sadder after watching the first three... i mean one moment they ride into the sunset and the next they passed on :csad:

Doctor Jones: i think he/she is poking fun at the bashers... right?:hehe:

I think so.

But yeah, it was kinda sad seing them pass on. After just watching the third, and then seeing Henry's picture. I also noticed some nods to the other films

-Shia freaking out underneath the cemetary and seeing the corpses - Nods to Willie and Marion. "It's just a thing."
- After Mutt knocks down the head of the statue of Brody. He smiles and looks at Indy. Indy gives him a disaproving look. Exactly like in LC after Indy killed the biker from ramming the pole in the tire
- Indy saying "This is intolerable!"

I think there were others but that's all I have. Though I noticed all these nods the first time I saw it.

Does anyone else think that Shia overracted when they found Oxley's cell and it shifts to Shia with tears in his eyes and asks in a strange way, "What happened, Ox, man? What happened?" I know this is a father figure to him. And I thought the misty eyes was appropriate but when he says, "Ox, what happened, man? What happened?" Is where it seems iffy to me.

Plus I thought it was funny when Mutt says to Indy, "What are you looking at daddy-o? She's getting away!" I thought of Back to the Future there. :woot:

I like it much more than the first time I saw it. As you see it more times, the more you observe, the greater you see actually makes it seem more realistic.

"You're not picking a fight dad... dad... dad... daddy-o..." lol i love BTTF...

:hehe: i really liked the knocking down the head of Brody's statue one... it was indeed very much like LC and i laughed my butt off.

The daddy-o bit was funny too, i think Harrison and Shia had good chemistry, and that made their scenes together fun.

Oh and i gotta say, i still love the diner fight scene :hehe:

^^Agree 100%

the diner was classic. And I did like Shia and Harrisons chemistry. I think they made Mutt do too much. They were more like partners than hero and sidekick except for maybe the cemetary. If INdy 5 does happen i dont want Mutt to be lost but i want the hero and sidekick dynamic reestablished. The whole partner aspect is what sparked the passing the torch talk and a lot of people (at least on these board) seem to have a negative predisposition to Shia, who I think has had a very entertaining career thus far.

finally got to see this movie....it was better than i thought it would be, but admittedly my expectations were lowered by everyone else's reviews. there were a few things i didn't like and one thing i REALLY didn't like (Indy surviving a nuke) but overall i really liked this film and i think it fits well as Indy's last hurrah. i honestly wouldn't want another Indy flick after this, but i LOVED how they involved the aliens.

I'm finally sitting down to watch this tonight. It will be 2nd Indy IV viewing.

Will post my thoughts.

I'm glad you liked the aliens. Actually, they're interdimensional beings. They're not from outer space.

Hey, at least they never said the word, "aliens." :yay:

That was one of the things that really worked for me. Like LC, what made the film for me was Harrison and Connery's chemistry. I'm really glad they made it work again.

The diner scene was great. Great atmosphere and music. "Get that Greaser!"

I remember, in the theater, everybody laughed at the right parts.

"My son? Well why the hell didn't you make him finish school?!" :woot:

Yep. The rocket sled? I first thought it was made up. But actually in the 50's they strapped people to rocket sleds and sent them 200 mph down a track. And I also was relieved they called it Hanger 51 instead of Area 51.

Speaking of which, when anybody first saw Raiders, did anyone think the warehouse was Area 51?

It was great while watching my marathon. At the end of Raiders in the warehouse, its a really cool feeling now knowing where and what it is and knowing that in 20 years, Indy will have to visit and escape it. You see the ending credits in the warehouse, and you just imagine Indy running across the crates and escaping the Commies. You can't think of that ending without the opening in KOTSC now.

I did. Go back a few pages :woot:

i consider interdimensional beings "aliens" hehe. i'm sort of biased though because i actually believe that aliens have been watching us longer than we think they have and that they've interacted with past civilizations...so it's as if Spielberg was catering towards that belief in this movie.

That's why I liked how they handled the aliens in this film. They just didn't come from outer space and were your average saucermen or aliens with green skin. They actually had been apart of shaping history thousands of years ago in South America. That really made it work for me. If it was just your average alien, I might have problems with it.

Yeah, I thought I read a post before who said that. :woot:

I never would of guessed. I actually didn't really think about it. That's what was so cool about the mystery of it. Though I have no problems with the reveal now.

Thank God for that.

i dont think they could do it now like they are w/all the others (rambo/rocky/indy/mcclane etc)...
like how could they, it'd feel weird i think if the primary date wasn't still 1985 w/marty going through time yknow? and they played doc brown older, you'd think hed be dead lol. leave the trilogy alone thank god

True. I felt the film could only work in that year.
