How was Inglorious Basterds? I never got a chance to see it in theaters because I was busy.

I thought it was brilliant. It's not action packed though, in fact it is a bit long winded. But the characters are so interesting and pretty much every single performance is stunning I didn't care.

They appearently released a Blu-ray that doesn't work with a considerable number of BD players. Not even with the latest firmware update.

WTF universal.

:down

I loved this film, it was my favorite movie of the year...10/10. I hope the Blu-Ray works with my PS3.

Don't worry, the ps3 is safe. :yay:

Samsung and Panasonic BD players on the other hand.

Probably have to wait for the next firmware update 3-5 months for now. :cmad:

No commentary, but I've only watched a 30 minute interview with QT, Pitt, and some guy, which was really really good.

From the 2 disc.

The is one of Tarantino's best films and i'd put it in my top three for the year. I guess Sandler would of been the bear jew bu I actually prefer Eli Roth in the role.

What happened to the rest of the Basterds? I guess they were all killed while one was captured( Bj Novak's character)?

It was a good piece of entertainment, nothing more. Christoph Waltz was excellent, I hope he wins the Oscar. I voted 8, but it's practically a 9.

Yeah, Donowitz and Omar blew up in the cinema, and of course Stiglitz and Wicky were killed in the tavern. Only Brad Pitt and BJ Novak survived.

the Blu Ray's picture is beautiful. One of the better looking Blu Rays I own.

Still love this movie.

It turned out great casting a German film star. Dicaprio would have been miscast. I think Waltz will at least be nominated.

What about the rest? Sam Levine and the others who don't speak?

Great film. I gave it an 8. At first I thought that it was good, but not what I expected. But Chapter 5 took a good movie and made it great

Finally checked it out Thursday night, and I very much enjoyed this film.

Christoph Waltz's performance is quite entertaining as well.

You should consider bullet-proof vests.
"Bullets, my only weakness. How did you know?". :woot:

But I make no excuses or apologizes, I just did not like it.

My review...

Back in the summer, I had my doubts of Tarantino's new film. After reading a few reviews and some draft which had leaked online, I really didn't know what to think. Could Quentin, after hyping this to be his dream project, have made a film which could be labeled disappointing (granted, I still haven't seen Jackie Brown, a film I'm unaware of the general consensus)? I told myself "yes" walking into the theater and sat down in an extremely unenthusiastic mood. After about five minutes in, my doubts had completely passed and a huge smile came about on my face and stayed there for the duration of the film -- trust me, holding a grin for two and a half hours isn't easy. Inglorious Basterds, arguably Tarantino's best film, tells the story of an alternate-history of how the west, er...east, was won.
The film is titled after its main -- for the lack of a better term -- group: the Bastards, which appears misspelled on one of its member's rifles. The team consists of eight Jewish American soldiers who have been dropped into France about a few years before D-Day with no main objectives other than to kill and kick ass -- the asses and scalps being the Nazis, of course. In control of this colorful team is Lt. Aldo Raine (a nod to the actor Aldo Ray, no?) played by the almost-always great, or at least entertaining, Brad Pitt. His performance here is definitely no exception. The film also focuses on many other characters, one being Hans Landa, an extremely well-written villain played by Christopher Waltz who deserves all the praise he's recieved. Throughout the film's long length, which goes by incredibly fast, we follow the bloody acts of all the characters and end with an entertaining twist to history.
If you couldn't tell already, I loved the **** out of this film. Off the top of my head, it's my favorite from Tarantino. And knowing Tarantino, the dialogue, music, cinematography, film homages, performances, plot, characters, and bloody action sequences are usually at their finest form. The plot, knowing Tarantino, is over-the-top, but stunning and consistent throughout. Not one second did I look over at my clock. Tarantino not only delivers a strong plot, but another batch of memorable characters. While I've already mentioned the two heads at each end of the table, the film is full of great supporting characters -- all impeccably executed by the actors that play them -- from the dreaded Nazi dogs to the toodle-pip British high-ranking officers. But what characters -- at least for this type of film -- aren't perfect without dialogue? Don't worry, Tarantino has hit it out of the ballpark again, even farther than his previous efforts. The dialogue is funny, keeps your attention for minutes on end in every scene -- for the film's remarkably small amount of scenes, this is huge -- will be quoted by fans for years, and a catalyst used to develop tension. Sorry, but if the "speeches between characters" -- a quote from some Youtube user -- were boring to you, please **** off to Transformers 2, GI Joe or some other "blockbuster" dross.
Tarantino recently stated that he's going to give the finger to digital and continue to use 35mm film 'til it's out of the question. After watching this beautiful film, my favorite shot being a slo-mo one of a flicked cigarette, I'm all for it.
To sum it up, Tarantino has delivered again. Hell, the only bad thing I can think of is that the film has saved the Weinstein Brothers. If you consider yourself a film enthusiast or war buff and you still haven't checked this out, first take a hammer and beat yourself repeatedly, then put this in the DVD player. Trust me, you won't regret it.

10/10

Got the DVD today and re-watched the film. I can't believe how much I missed in the first viewing. This film is a goldmine of callbacks, setups/payoffs, subtleties, nuances, and dramatic layering. I can't believe how good this ****ing movie is.

I highly HIGHLY recommend seeing it more than once. You have to.
