Inhumans Inhuman Outfits

I was realistically expecting something that was not going to be an exact translation of Black Bolt's suit, but while this look we're seeing right now is by no means "horrible", it is more simplistic and generic than I ever expected it to be. Still, it is possible there could be more to it.

Black bolts suit looks like regal wear, im joping he gets armor with the classic look.
I know its easy to assume thats what his costume will be, but when was the last time we have had a costume revealed through set pics when it comes to marvels tv shows? Im not ready to jump to conclusions yet.

Its actually not bad. But it lacks the helmet and it's just all black. Where are the white details?

neither is Hawkeye's
and idk, I actually like Elektra's for TV, her all red with the red bandana thing is just... too ... red

why do people pretend that marvel movies get costumes 100% right, unlike tv department? remember hawkeye, sw, falcon, ant-man...? i personally like daredevil, punisher and elektra costumes a lot more.
also, i doubt black bolt will have just one outfit for the entire series. people need to chill.

Yeah if it looks good then I really don't care about it not looking like the comic. My problem with the Black Bolt outfit for instance is that it looks boring, not that it's not what he wears in the books.

Hawkeye's costume is based from Ultimate comics.

This is what I wanted for those three.

I just think the jacket for Punisher doesn't suit the actor.

well that's not his "signature look" that's his "ultimate look" lol
and idk, I'm glad elektra wasn't in a corset or a monokini, and I think her face bandana looks cooler than those WW headpiece lookin things in the two right-hand pictures
but to each their own

<<<<>>>>

Now, am I not seeing some sort of official confirmation that everyone else has that says this is Black Bolt's full superhero costume??
Because everyone here seems to be talking like it's official

a single bts picture and everybody's buttholes get all sandy

well everyone needs to chill on iron fist, just because it's not in the first season doesn't mean he won't suit up at some point
ABC and Netflix are also very different in that regard though, Netflix doesn't shy away from the costumes all too much, whereas ABC does (for anyone whose name ain't "Daisy")
but this one, being bigger budget and having actual comics to draw from, shouldn't fall in to the same Agents of SHIELD trap

People don't really have to chill at all because it's the Iron Fist series and it's something we were all hoping for and expecting. It went from "OK he's going to get it toward the end" to "well now he's not getting at all."

If it didn't even show up in the Netflix series, what evidence is there it even shows up in Defenders?

Netflix does shy away from the costumes A LOT.

They did DD, Punisher, Elektra, Hand ninjas, references to Gladiator's and JJ's, hell they even managed to honor Cage's super cheesy 70's look...

I get that it's disappointing we won't see him suited up in season 1
(though nothing about the quote from the producer says they won't at least tease a mask/costume by the end of the season)
but there's always defenders, or IF season 2, or heroes for hire, or.....

God, a Netflix episode almost takes a hour. Like they all got the time to feature the costume and I just don't get how they wouldn't even showcase it. Its his signature look and he has his own show and I just think visually, its a requirement.

And Netflix just holds back a lot. Its mostly talking and some action there but eh. Its always Watered down when it comes to visuals .

References to costumes are meaningless in terms of actually depicting them.

Oh wow, for all of about 10 seconds of screentime, Cage was wearing something that resembled his 1970s costume. Big deal.

There's no guarantee of Iron Fist Season 2 or Heroes for Hire series either.

oooookay
y'all can hate on the netflix stuff if you want
I'mma just chill here and love it

At least with ABC, the leads don't have a look from the comics that they have to follow or honor well I guess except for Mockingbird since she was a regular. And I didn't like her costume in that show.

But Phil, May, Agent Carter, Ward, Jemma, Fitz??? Not really.

yeah but they did that Deathlok costume

whoever designed that should be forbidden from ever working on costumes in Hollywood again

And I mentioned that that was s***.

But Aos wasn't Deathlok's own show. Unlike Iron Fist who is headlining his own show. They have all the time to feature the costume and chose not to for whatever reason.

point is, ABC is way worse with the costumes
Netflix is just cautious about using them because they want the tone to still feel "grounded"
while ABC's just like "mash together black widow's costume with a bunch of laser tag s**t, yipeee!!"

and then the cw shows are a bunch of broke cosplayers lol

But see, you're using ABC to defend Netflix. If Aos' lead is Deathlok. Okay great argument but that's not the case.

And people are already criticising black bolt's costume and it's on ABC. Anyway they both produce sh*****y costumes. Maybe it's a TV thing?

Well since, by my estimation, the Netflix shows have had the best TV costumes, then yes, I am defending Netflix by comparison to ABC, because regardless of whether Deathlok was the main character, the point is all the costumes they have produced (as well as all the ones made by DC) look like crap compared to DD, Punisher or Elektra (again, IMO). That includes Mockingbird, Daisy, and "Patriot" as well.

I also defend the Netflix shows because they have given me no reason to doubt their quality (well except maybe the second half of Cage)

and then, separately, I also asked, but got no answer, whether there was some sort of confirmation that this one picture we've gotten is actually Black Bolt's superhero costume. This show seems to be kind of a hybrid, bigger budget and more ambitious than AoS, but not quite on the film level, so it's my assumption and my hope that the actual costumes will be closer to the Netflix level.

Well there's no confirmation yet. Hopefully if it's the final version, they would see our reaction and revise the design for the other episodes.

As of now, its X-Men 2000 meets the Matrix to me. Really curious if Medusa would be all purple. 1 color per costume could be the look of the outfitS.

Given that he hasn't actually worn that outfit for about 30 years in the comics, I don't know why anyone would expect him to wear it for anything other than a gag.

The costumes for ABC range from quite good to bad (Daisy, second deathlok, to first deathlok) as do the CW ones.
The Netflix ones are pretty good, but they're barely shown and always in pitch black. They aren't lower quality movie ones, you can see from close-ups that the basic fabric is the same as Black Widows.
This is a TV show that obviously can't afford to custom-print thousands of feet of fabric to make costumes for everyone. As far as Black Bolt, I think it looks decent but would look a lot better with the white parts and a tuning fork crown.

I'm not sure about Black Widow's fabric, but I remember reading that Captain America's Winter Soldier stealth suit the fabric itself was custom made. You won't get something like that on a tv budget, which typically have to resort to fabrics that are readily available.

As for Black Bolt's costume, I really like design, would have liked the white lines but with leather you can't quite color it with that. I've never been a big fan of leather jackets as super hero suits anyway. They look fine when standing still but when the actor moves they seem really stiff and the jacket bunches up weird.

I didn't but it still doesn't count as an actual "costume."
