Inhumans Inhuman Outfits

The showrunner Scott Buck doesn't like costumes and he couldn't think of a reason to have billionaire corporate heir Danny Rand having his own in an Iron Fist series.

There's nothing to say he doesn't like costumes. He didn't think a costume fit his story for Iron Fist. Whether it does or doesn't, I don't know because we haven't seen the season. But there's no reason to assume he has some personal vendetta against costumes based on his limited comments.

I didn't but it still doesn't count as an actual "costume."

Okay? It doesn't matter because Luke Cage doesn't wear a costume. That's sort of the point. Like, if someone went into Luke Cage expecting him to wear a costume then I guess more power to them, but that was kind of a stupid assumption on their part then.

LC's hoodie with the yellow lining is his costume.
Also, dunno what people are smoking with DD (best suit is still the one that looked like it was meant for Iron Fist), but sure Punisher's and Elektra's are good enough (never were as complicated to adapt).

I await this show's "Akuma the feathered Hedgehog" equivalent. :cwink:

Can you really get away with a comic accurate costume on a TV budget? I'd rather they went understated than ended up looking like a CW show.

See, here's the thing about that argument I don't get. Just how expensive are these costumes that there's no way to do them on TV? I mean, I know they're not cheap, but TV shows also have pretty sizable budgets for special effects, actor salaries, etc., so I'm not sure why they always seem to want to cut corners with the wardrobe when it is one of the most important aspects of the superhero genre.

Black Bolt has one of the greatest costumes in comics, if they can't get that to 'work' on screen then there is no hope.

It really does look like something out of Arrow.

The thing is though with the exception of the Atom and maybe Vixen none of the CW heroes' suits are as radical of a departure from the comics as Blackbolt's suit. It looks like something out of Smallville not the Arrowverse.

While I do like to speculate (mainly 'cause its fun), I'm really not gonna panic over a few set pics (which we don't know the context of). Is it a costume? Is it just wear? I don't know. I'll form more of... something when more stuff is available. I'm just happy Lockjaw will appear.

Could be worse. Could be this:

It's not just the costume itself, it's the quality of cameras and all the colour-grading that going into it after the fact.

I think these cheap looking costumes has something to do with the property being adapted to a TV show and not film. Like I think in terms of spectacle, production and just visual flair.. There's a bigger standard to films compare to TV. Or else these costumes would look as grand or expensive as the MCU movie costumes.

And speaking of color grading... I really hope this won't have a TV look. I really hate those yellow lighting/camera filter that the Marvel Netflix used. It looks so cheap.

That Doom outfit is probably not the final product but just his initial outfit or a mo-cap suit. He'll probably be fully armoured by the end and look much better with CGI enhancements. Just wait for the trailer. Or wait for the movie. Or wait for the sequel. Or wait for the reboot. :o

That Doom costume looks pretty clever and original though, and a fresh take on the armour. I'm going to see the movie 10 times!

My big worry going in was that the Inhumans were going to end up looking like specialized SHIELD agents...and...well...Blackbolt kind of does.

TV means they have an even better excuse to just do spandex/lycra bodysuits like those old shows and that Justice League tv pilot.
No one does em' except for those rare few because we've since declared those as being tacky.

Smallville managed to be all over the place.

This feels right at home with Marvel TV, costume-wise.
I also could've sworn Jon Snow wore something like that.

It looks right at home with Marvel TV??????

Yeah...that's the problem. A race that exists away from our world and SHOULD have developed its own culture, style etc ends up looking "right at home" next to everyone else.

That's a problem. This SHOULD look alien to us.

As in it exists within the same universe. Marvel TV was never that imaginative as far as "alien" costumes, especially of the humanoid variety.

They seem to be going the route of trying to take the patterns/color schemes and putting them on clothing people might actually wear instead of spandex costumes, which is not in itself a bad idea, but on Black Bolt it just makes him look boring as hell. Crystal's outfit looks much better, I think.

Yeah it almost looks like Crystal is wearing some casual clothes there, but it has the same colors, that like gold-ish yellow and the black stripe, she's known for in the comics.

You know, are we sure the pic we got of Black Bolt wasn't just between scenes, and the actor wasn't wearing his mask?
