Someone name a film that came out this summer with better fight scenes than TDK!

This is an easy one....HELLBOY 2!!! the fight scenes in there were insane, shot well, intense and blew TDK away ONLY in the FIGHT dept. which should be an important part of the Batman series as well... quick and intense fights are for street brawls....how would u like a quick and intense STORYLINE??!! we are there to be entertained by ALL aspects of the film NOT just the acting!!! Please dont get explosions, car chases, helicpoter/truck crashes confused with what our illustrious hero has trained FOR YEARS in different styels....MARTIAL ARTS!!! Batman might as well have been a street fighter from what was displayed in TDK....I'm done...

Not IM, TIH or Hellboy 2 had fight sequences better than TDK, the real reason why, is because almost ALL of the fight scenes in TDK were actually done and not CGI garbage.

Now Im not bashing IM, TIH, or HB2 because I loved all of them, but comparing jumbled CGI work and real action sequences isnt really comparable in my eyes, it would be like comparing TDK's fight scenes to Transformers lol.

So if it's not real = bad?

The truth of the matter is that the fight sequences in all of those films were more entertaining than the fight sequences in TDK.

And I actually preferred the intensity of the fight sequences in BB. So it's not a question of CGI. No fight in TDK (Apart from the parking scene) was as exciting as the fights in BB.

Yeah, it's more fair to compare the actual entertainment value garnered from watching the fight scenes, but not the actual fights themselves because they are on totally different playing levels.

Good point crook.... in HELLBOY 2 ALL the fights involving the main villian were not cgi, damn hellboy had a better 1 on 1 fight then batman did...smh.....YES HB2'S were done by GREAT stunt double's...BUT this just justifies my point that BATMANS double can execute great things if given the opportunity (on 2nd unit). C'mon would u have believed ANYONE if i told you earlier this year that HELLBOY 2 was gonna have better hand to hand combat scenes than the TDK!!!

It's time for them to up their game and the fans shouldn't just fall back on that excuse that as long as we have a great story who cares about batman's MANY fighting styles that are NEVER seen and have yet to be shot well. I'm going to watch undisputed 2 for some real fight scenes...**** just put scott adkins/ray park or tony jaa in the batman suit and yell action...lol...

Out of all the comic movies I saw, this is what order which I enjoyed the most:

-Hellboy II

-Iron Man

-The Incredible Hulk

-The Dark Knight

While TDK is last on my list, its not really geared towards your run-of-the-mill popcorn action flicks. Its more of a crime-drama with some action in the middle;)

Not if your someone who has seen both. HB2's fight choreography was better than anything in TDK. Nolan needs to back the camera away and let people see the fighting going on. His fight scenes was better than the closterphobic BB stuff, but not by much. And Hellboy vs. the Prince was just damn fun to watch.

Well thats your opinion, to me I would rather view actual fight scenes with real actors or stuntmen than a bunch of CGI blobs rolling around on the ground beating on each other.

I admit, I do too miss alot of the intensity of the fight scenes in BB, but I dont really feel like they would've worked with the style of the film.

Nivek/Darkvengance, great point...it's easy...pull the damn camera back and let us enjoy a great fight with our hero for once, no strobing lights, no shadow fighting etc... I understand that as an actor Bale can only do so much...BUT it was creativity that was missing....

Think about this....why cover BATMAN'S training in part one to reflect the ninja/ra's al ghul style...THEN give him some damn kensyi?? (THEY ARE NOTHING ALIKE!!!)

I agree the last fight in HB2 was really good, but very fantasy driven with all of the jumping in and around the gears and stuff, it should be that way cause its a fantasy driven world in HB2

Thats the point Im trying to make, all of these other summer comic book films we're all placed in some kind of fantasy unrealistic world, whereas TDK was based in a more gritty realistic world.

I like the fight scenes in TDK the best because they feel real to me, there not tons and tons of CGI going on, just a bunch of stuntment doing their thing, Im a big fan of 80's action films and kung fu movies so id rather see realistic looking violence than the overused CGI garbage flooding films today.

They shoulda brought West in to do all Bales fight scenes, then everyone would be happy.

The fighting styles aren't the problem--it's just the camera work. If Nolan could pull back a bit more and catch some of the brutal parts of the fights, it would be much better.

What more do we need to see? We don't really need full body shots when he's head butting and elbowing his opponents.

if i told you earlier this year that HELLBOY 2 was gonna have better hand to hand combat scenes than the TDK!!!

Well...
Since the Dark Knight was portrayed as a psychologically thrilling crime drama that pits Batman against the sinisterly charismatic Joker who has NEVER (well.. outside "The Batman") been known for good fighting...

And Hellboy was a cheap action flick with cheesy special effects, no plot, no substance.... just style and endless fights...
I would have told you "it'd had better have better hand to hand combat scenes or not a soul is going to enter the movie theater for that movie."

After the crapaliscious first Hellboy movie and the reviews of this one I don't think a soul who wasn't a male (okay, 10-20% female ONLY because of the elf prince) between the age of 12-19 with bad taste, Hot Topic clothing and a hard-on for demons and elfs willfully entered that theater unless dragged there by someone within that demographic or were being forced to review the movie for some reason.

And I am sure the movie served its demographic quite well. But to anyone outside the demographic... well...

I can guarantee you haven't even watched Hellboy 2, if you call it a cheap action flick with no plot, substance, and backing from critics. That's practically all false. :funny:

I want to get your suggestions on how intense and what kind of style of you want to see the fight sequences depicted in TDK. I want to see more of a Kill Bill style to the sequences with some more intensity! I also want to see Batman dish out more punishment and see him breaking more arms and legs! I want to see and hear the pain that Batman put on them. Another style would be similiar to the History of Violence style of fight sequences.

Oh God no. The Batman doesn't have to have blood gushing everywhere to show that he's a bad ass warrior. Less is more.

He did catch the brutal parts of the fight, but in closeup Sage. That's where the dramatic hits have more impact when you feel you're inside of the fight with close camera work. Wide angled shots and pulling back makes Batman seem miniscule within the action, as opposed to being this large looming physical precense. With that said, TDK didn't suffer from this problem. The brutality and effectiveness of the fight scenes stems from the fact that there is alot of closeups.

There was no "problem with camera work" ... in fact the cinematography for both of these Nolan Bat-films fit the movies perfectly.
