Interview w/Rothman on lots of things inc FF2

My thoughts exactly willie, Tim must be super busy but this is getting crazy, I keep logging on every day looking for snippets of news, photos, something, man I am salivating over pictures of taxi cabs and street signs, how sick is that. Somebody somewhere give us something soon please.
It's entirely possible that he's not allowed to post anything. Hellmistress was told by Fox to take down the little interview with Doug about Silver Surfer and even the bit announcing that he had gotten the part off of his own site. This isn't a fan site, it's Doug's own official site and Fox won't let HM put anything up.

It's possible they are trying to keep as tight a lid on everything as possible as they have seen the trouble early leaks can cause from the first FF movie (most of the films script was online before they'd even started filming, and the Thing's design was criticised as soon as the first blurrry on-set pics were seen). Then there's also X3, where a couple of the more upsetting 'twists' were revealed, again before filming had begun.
In both cases the worst of the things that were 'spoiled' were discussed in depth at these boards and in both cases our worst fears were proved right (the craptastic Dr Doom in FF and the early death of Cyclops to make Wolverine the be all and end all in X3).

It's not that any bad buzz from speculation at boards like this has that huge an effect on the films BO take in the long run (if any), but you can imagine they would still see it as a headache they could do without.

This is what I've been arguing for. It's a shame really how little faith fans have in the genius of the original design. And how many are willing to sell out these great characters for the sake of "realism" and "not looking silly".

Wow. What a great argument you make.

Must be a couple months now since TS said they started filming production diaries. What happened to those?

If they don't want people posting spy photos, it seems the best way to avoid that is give us something else to look at.

Why give us something, for the sake of giving us something. Why not wait, put something together that blows everybody away. Instead of saturating us so much, that even the coolest stuff seems like nothing.

Whatever I see, I want it to be the very best quality it can be, if its not, don't show me.

90% of the movies I see, I know absolutely nothing about them. Most I couldn't even tell you the director. I saw what a saturation of information can do to the enjoyment of a movie. I sure as hell don't want that to happen, and don't plan on it.

Rothman's statements carry very little water with me at this time. But I am going to keep my finger's crossed. After all, the brilliance of X2 (and to an extent X3) was produced even with him in the equation.

We'll see.:hyper:

Well i have to disagree about X3, i thought it was a disaster, with me being a huge fan of the Pheonix Saga you probably know were i am coming from.

BUT, I also just dont think TS is as good a director as Bryan Singer either. I would love to see Tim get all the freedom possible on this and make a good movie and prove me wrong. But with a lot of poor direction in the first movie and Fox's increasing meddling in thier CB franchises, its just hard to look forward to ANYTHING they do, let alone a sequel to (what i thought was) a poor movie.

We also starting filming some video blogs today so there will be a time in the near future where I can start sharing concept art and other things. We'll be opening up a website to post them and you'll also be able to find them here.

I think the guy who saw them shooting the Thing makeup test saw the diaries crew as well. That would be a nice starter.

But this, (and please keep in mind that this is for a video game and could therefore be greatly improved upon),..THIS gives you a glimpse of how AWESOME the true galactus, the true FF, the true SS could be.,

why don' t they get, why don't WE get that THIS is what we love and want to see?

Ok, now those pictures I could really get into. He still has the basic design of the comic, but he doesn't look corny like the comic and the colors are better. :)

The things that came across pretty well were the promotional pictures, like the first of Sue in costume etc. I wouldn't be at all surprised if thats all we got.

Jessica Alba in a skin-tight costume went over well? Big Suprise. :cwink:

Give us more of her sweetness, and none of us pimply-faced nerd-boys will complain!
