Rise of the Silver Surfer INVISIBLE WOMAN/Jessica Alba DISCUSSION

I really liked the Fantastic Four: War Zone book.

Yeah it was alittle slow in some parts, but over all it was a pretty solid look at the 4.

May I ask in what comic were the scenes between the F.F. and Goron taken from, those few panels impressed me enough to want to go find it. The whole scene with Susan saying "Mommy's in control now." priceless.

Marvel Knights issues...not sure of the issue #.

Thanks, at least it's something to start with.

Its one of the last issues, Marvel Knights ended with the June issue I believe, so its in one of the last issues.

Thanks again for the help, maybe you can help me once again. I posted this question on another thread, but I haven't recieved an answer yet.

A few years ago, Susan became the Baroness Von Doom correct? All right, what I would like to know is why is no one is calling her that now? If I understood the ceremony and please correct me if I'm wrong, only Victor could grant her a annulment (since Latveria doesn't believe in divorce.) right? If this happened would somebody please tell me what issue it was in, cause I'd really like to read it and see which idiot writer wrote it.

Let me explain, Doom is Reed's arch foe. Now that's a fact! So why would Doom grant Susan the love of his arch foe, an annulment? (I know it was Reed in the armor, but technically it was Von Doom's name she took along with the title of Baroness; so you don't have to correct me on that folks.) And what better way to one up your arch foe than to deny him the right to give his name to the love of his life? With that thought then shouldn't Susan's name be Susan Storm Richards Von Doom, Baroness of Latevria or is it Susan Storm Richards Baroness Von Doom?

I'd really like to know the answer if you have, one thanks again.

Maybe Iron Maiden can help you out on that one, you could PM her.

I believe that it was a 2 parter. It would be Marvel Knights 19 & 20. Not sure of the exact issue the panel is from though.

I seen that and I appreciate it, but that was after I posted the question here. I thank you for your help and for your help as well JMAfan and yours as well Inhuman63.

have a nice one.

Sue is powerful enough but if the malice storyline was used more then she would be even more powerful

I think Sue Storm is possibly my favorite female comic book character.

Thanks for smutting up what was my favorite thread that I started....appreciate it.

I've been waiting for you to notice! I think this image demonstrates the strong, independent, liberated and sensual side of Susan Storm. A truly 21st century woman!:)

:down What a load of B.S.

From what I can find, it's also NOT a Marvel-endorsed image.

And I think it's a little inappropriate for this forum, to say the least.
I don't suppose one of the mods would consider removing it?

:down Really tacky, gerbstat.

It seems that the image I posted has offended some of the forum regulars. I am curious to know what you find offensive about the image. While it depicts a nearly naked Sue Storm holding a glass of champagne, it is not revealing to the point that it could not appear in any "real" magazine. Sue has been increasingly shown in the comics as a woman with extremely unrealistic physical proportions, much like the original Barbie. Her sexuality has been exploited since the early days with swimsuit "pinup" photos. It is a certainty that the casting of Jessica Alba in the role was based on her popularity and attractiveness to a young demographic - undeniably due to her sensual appeal to young males.

The post of this image is completely consistant with the stated theme and intent of this thread. It shows the character as a woman displaying her sensual side. It is not graphically obscene, it does not imply that she is not a strong, independent woman, and it does not preclude her role as mother, sister or wife.

If you find this image disrespectful to the character, then you need to revisit how she has been portrayed throughout her "career" in the comics. While I respect your right to hold a contrary position to mine, I insist upon my right to disagree with you. Such disagreement leads to discussion and that is the function of this forum.

If the moderators agree that the post indeed violates the guidelines of this board, as opposed to offending some of the forum members, they will take whatever action they deem necessary to correct the situation.

You're probably right that it could appear in a Maxim or something these days although a few years back the pose would have relegated it to the top shelf
She is naked with her legs spread, that is more Hustler material than being sexually confident IMO,Sue is sexy and not afraid to be sexy but posing like a porn model seems out of character to me

My 2 cents not that I'm offended

And I have.

Let us remember that we have children perusing these threads, so we need to keep it clean.

I was not offended. But I thought it was inappropriate for this forum

Well she's never been portrayed like that.

And other than the period where she was mishandled by Tom DeFalco and wore a skimpy uniform that looked ridiculous, what are you talking about? I assume you're talking about how she's been handled in the main FF title?
Please, point us to anything approaching what you posted.

And nowhere in any Marvel comic or Marvel-endorsed image has she ever been portrayed in such a manner. The image carries with it the suggestion that Sue would pose for such a picture, which is completely out of character.
I don't think anyone's saying Sue doesn't have a sensual side  but jeez!
Reed, Ben and Johnny have their "sensual sides" too, but I don't see any pics around of them in similar poses.

It reminds me of some of the hideous fan art you can find on eBay that gives superheroines monstrously improbable bustlines and such.
That stuff plays to the absolute lowest common denominator in fandom, and is really quite sad.

To Lightning: Thanks for taking our younger readers into consideration. I frequently sit here perusing the SHH boards with my 9-year old daughter a few feet away. It wouldn't have been the end of the world had she seen that pic, but I'm glad I didn't have to explain it to her. Or my 5 year old son, for that matter.
For the record, I'd rather they see a nude (or semi-nude) human body any day rather than gratuitous violence, but neither has a place in these forums.
