Iron Fist casting call and movie thread

Here's something interesting. IMDB took out Steve Carr and Ray Park and set the release date for 2012.

How about Cam Gigandet from Never Back Down. I think he has the right look and build. Also, according to IMDB he has a black belt in Krav Maga which in my opinion is one of the most brutal self-defense systems. OK, so it's not the same as kung-fu but it's still a strong background in Martial Arts. So I'm sure he'd be able to pick up the kung-fu training quickly and be able to pull it off on screen.

I think Gosling or Hunnam as Rand/Iron Fist. Jason Statham is too old looking and bulky to be Iron Fist IMO. He would be good as the Thunderer though. And what about Tom Jane as Orson Randall?

I believe the movie is still happening, I mean it's just been in development hell for the past years is all. IMDB changed the release date to 2012.

Jane isn't a bad choice, I like Bruce Willis as the choice for the Orson too.

All i'm saying is that it should be an actor who can act that's chosen. With today's technology, it would be easy to make an actor who doesn't know martial arts look like he does know martial arts.

Yea but if I was making a film about one of the best martial artists in comicdom I would expect my actor to train himself up.

That's exactly what I was saying a few pages back, Gosling (or any actor) could train himself in martial arts, just like Craig did for Bond and like Damon did for Bourne. Get Woo-ping Yuen as action and fight choreographer and it would work perfectly.

Get Cyril Rafanelli and Tony Jaa to feature in the movie in some capacity.

Personally, I think David Belle should be doubling Daredevil and Cyril doubling Iron Fist. Belle is much more acrobat oriented and less flashy (as far as parkour goes), while Cyril has a real flashy marital arts oriented style

Yea Charlie Hunnam looks a spitting image of Danny, he's a pretty good actor too, if you can ignore that piss poor cockney accent he tried in Green Street Hooligans.

Just read though this thread and noticed there's a split in opinion between casting a quality actor (Gosling is my choice) or a martial artist (Gary Daniels...Ray Park...all touching 40 year old and can't act for ****, poor lads).

I'm just gonna throw this one in the mix -

Ryan Phillippe.

I rated him in Way of the Gun, Gosford Park and Flags of our Fathers. He's got the look of Danny Rand and he's a black belt in Tae Kwon Do who, with a little training and a good choeographer, could really pull off the action in a film like this.

Just a thought.

Oh, and big up to the maniac 2 pages back who wants Chuck Norris to be in this film!!!

I like Hunam as another choice. He's in "Sons of Anarchy" which is a good show. So for me, my two choices are Ryan Gosling and Charlie Hunam.

For Thunderer, I choose Ken Watanabe, cause lets not forget, Steel Serpent is his son.

What about Rosario Dawson for Misty? She is gorgeous and she is a pretty good actress when she needs to be.
