ComicChick,
I was using RC1 and Beta, both x64, FYI.
Pro:
1) For a notebook, by far better power management features. For example, after 3 mins on battery, you can dim your screen when not in use. This is fantastic on for battery, and just overall better power features.
2) The taskbar, granted it might not be everyones enjoyment, but I really liked it. Could be tweaked a bit, but much better than current task bar, and don't worry. You can switch it back if ya don't like it.
3) Hibernation was MUCH faster, and smoother.
4) Indexing, and PreFetching (Forgot what it's called top of my head) is much smoother, and less disk thrashing.
5) Windows Mouse Gestures...it should been added long ago, IMO. Long with updating Calculator, Paint and so on. Along with updating Desktop abilities, such as easier Dual Monitor support.
6) Can run on older hardware ALOT smoother, and very, very stable for older and newer computers alike. Quick response times as well no "Thinking" to open "Start Menu."
Neg:
1) Libraries, I like the principal idea, but it was implemented bad...it's just another term coined for "My Documents" in a way. This could be fixed, but when I was on RC1, I doubt it.
2) Way the redid the control panel, it was a utter MESS, IMO. I don't expect that to be fixed either. Just something going have to get use to, tho.
3) No real hardware support, but I'm sure that will change. Lot of Vista drivers are compatible
4) Hard Drive Space, despite it's cheap now a days, it's still killer for a OS overall. Makes ya wonder. =)
5) Alot of things are renamed, or removed that was actually helpful. Or even a few redundant ways to do the same thing.
6) Home Network...What's the point if Win 7 and above can use it? Plus, it confuses the masses with "Workgroup" as well.
7) WMP...What where they thinking? Everything is hidden.
I'll think of other things, but that's all I can recall top of my head,
Ali
