The new Windows operating system, Windows 7 is in it's Beta (latest Build is 7000) which you can legally download for free from a bunch of sites because Microsoft distributed them. If you wanna get familiar with it, go to the official Windows 7 website, the Wikipedia page and/or check out lockergnome on youtube, he has a whole playlist that looks through the new features.

It looks much better than Vista and XP. My friend has it too, and I was playing with it and I do like it more than XP and it's only in the BETA stage!

It looks like someone flipped the switch a little early. The Windows 7 Release Candidate download page on TechNet has made a premature appearance, much like the beta download page did before the beta was released to the public. The public RC will apparently be coming in May 2009, and not in April as previously rumored. The RC testing program will be available at least through June 2009, and the actual build will expire June 1, 2010. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions will be available in English, German, Japanese, French, and Spanish. This is different from the beta, which was available in English (32-bit and 64-bit), German (32-bit and 64-bit), Japanese (32-bit and 64-bit), Arabic (32-bit and 64-bit), and Hindi (32-bit). A quick glance at the hardware requirements shows no changes between Beta and RC requirements.

Heya,

Yeah, I have it fully loaded on my notebook, and it's running fantastic. A few quirks here and there, but of course, it's a beta so that's to be expected neitherless and I'm running on x64.

Maybe I'll take a few person screenshots to give ya idea next few days, and add 'em here to see the difference and such. Most of it if GUI, but a few under the hood enchancements too.

The only thing that really blows so far on 7 is IE8, but that's rather well known documented issue. Other than that, it's rock soild for me, and I haven't even BSODed at all as of yet.

Far as I know, no it 's not, just more leaked beta builds but I know RC is going to be announced soon, just not set in stone. I hope I get my hands on it to see what the changes are.

It's a pretty version of Vista. Lighter on resources. Some pretty new features. I mean pretty, as in physically pretty.

Yes, I do agree with that as well, but there is a lot of under the hood performance updated as well. Personally, I think this what Vista should have been for Vista's development cycle.

One of those performance tweaks I've been getting about extra half hour of battery time, despite it could be for I'm undervolting too, but even on Vista I was as well so there is less "Load" on the OS, which is nice too. Well, one of the better factors that I've seen.
