Ugh. I wonder if Feige would have made the deal if he knew Rothman was coming on board. I can definitely see a poisoning of the well here.
Something tells me that this whole "deal" was grudgingly accepted by Sony in the first place. Those stupid spinoffs that Sony still has plans for that Marvel has no part of are proof that they're a bunch of greedy idiots who still haven't learned anything other than to use Marvel's success to get a boost in favor.
But once Sony bounces back from their walk of shame they'll start showing their true inept ways again with Rothman leading them now.
Marvel gets money in the sense that Spider-Man being in the MCU is a boost to both the value of their own films as well as Spider-Man's merchandize.
You also need to take into account that none of the Spider-man films have been as good/well received as TDK, which was basically lightning in a bottle.
Let's not re-write history. Spider-Man 2 was received as well as TDK. It shares the same 94% RT rating as TDK and is higher rated on Metacritic than TDK
TDK is considered the better of the two no question
it's ludicrous to state that no Spider-Man movie has been as well received as TDK when one of them factually was
Both were recieved incredibly well. TDK is considered the better of the two no question but it's incorrect to state that no Spider-Man movie has been as well received as TDK when one of them factually was
The first sentence refers to audience and hypesters and those in the community.
The second refers to critical reception.
Both movies were received at the same level by critics and while SM2 isn't viewed as good as TDK by audiences it is closer than most.
^ Also, the Tomato meter represents the percentage amount of critics that gave the film a positive review. You can have two films that have the same rating but one is generally considered better.

I have to admit that when they announced it I screamed at me screen NOOOOOO.
Also I cannot for the life if me see him as part of the avengers team. It just doesnt sit right with me.
