Remember the Hollywood Reporter article? That said: "Singer, who directed four X-Men movies, will not be returning, according to insiders, but the script is being written with Lawrence, Fassbender and McAvoy optimistically in mind."
No mention of the other characters. Makes it sound like more of that second fiddle for Jean, Storm, Scott, Nightcrawler, Jubilee. Whoopee. Let's get this party started.
And you wonder why frustration is growing even among the diehard X-Men fans. A Marvel reboot might be the only salvation for these key characters, i'm beginning to think.
Sophie Turner is pretty big because of GOT though and Tye Sheridan stars in a Steven Spielberg (back in blockbuster mode) movie this year.I'm weary about having popular stars/starlets (Emilia Clarke, Emmy Rossum, etc) play non-main characters from the comics. I'm afraid that's gonna be a repeat of JLaw and shoving a character in the forefront when the likes of Cyclops/Storm/Jean/Nightcrawler played second fiddle.
Quicksilver and Psylocke had the high numbers in this poll Followed by Jean and Nightcrawler.

Here at SHH I'd say Jean is the top choice.
Overall I don't think Apocalypse did any good for Prof X and Magneto being the stars in another film. The demand everywhere I've seen is always for the students.

Ain't that the truth.
McAvoy and Fassbender are solid performers in their roles but not the reason people go to see these films. Fassbender was not able to elevate Assassins Creed either - it has 16 per cent on RT.

Glad the hype is still the hype.
In december, Michel Trudel, president of MES (Montreal Studio) said in Journal of Montreal, the next X-Men Movie (New Mutants) could have similar budget to XA. He didn't say any number but we could assume between 140 and 160 million.
In response to Franked, X-Maniac, Psylockolussus, i don't think you need to worry about Mystique and Magneto. If Fox and Co can't make X-Men movie with Cyclop, Jean and Storm in lead . Why their next X-Men movie is about Magik, Sunspot, Cannonbal, Mirage, Wolfsbane ( C-list mutants)?
It doesn't make sense. Beside, Storm could be in the movie if the rumor is true. NM is already an evolution for the franchise because they aren't the most popular X-Men but Fox and Kinberg seems to have faith in Josh Boone vision.
You think Fox and co have to let go with Fassbender and Fawrence and you are right. But i think you need to wake up too because the next step could be already here.
With that logic makes me wonder why mystique wasn't the one to take down apocalypse at the end rather then have no action and just sit out alot of that final battle, she is played by a big actress so mystique should have got up while everyone was weakening him and she could have took apocalypse down with Psylockes sword.
But you can say what the general sentiment is online. I mean there's no way to sugarcoat it. JLaw in X-Men pretty much riles up online fanboys, except for her own fanbase.Thing is you can't speak for everyone
I agree completely it should've been Xavier giving them that pep talk. It is what any fan would expect from an X-Men movie, the iconic leader leading his team. But some posters here really think one should be forced to like it because it was in character for Mystique. Blah. The thing is Mystique could be that person who isnt necessarily bad, and ends up helping the X-Men from time to time, but they ended the movie with her training the first set of the X-Men. It just felt so wrong and Xavier was just watching outside the danger room.
Don't be silly. They probably had that in the script until she put her foot down and said she didn't want to wear her blue make-up that day. Kidding
In all seriousness, Mystique was still very much important, seems the characters can't do anything without telling us their feelings about the all-important hero.
It seems like Hank was going thru the motions until Mystique shows up at the mansion.
Once Apocalypse starts choking out Mystique, is when Xavier really got up (not literally) and took notice to come up with a plan to defeat the villain.
Which is around the time when Storm decides to switch sides and fight along with the good guys.
At different points, characters are practically begging her to do one thing or another. Beast for one. Thankfully they deleted Xavier begging Mystique at the end outside the mansion.
I gotta say, JLaw's few bright spots, acting-wise in Apocalypse is the few seconds she was *****y towards the kids. Like when Jean asks her if she was scared when she was going into her first battle:
"No."
Reminds me of Romijn's demeanor when in Alkali Lake in X2, when Storm asks about the kids and if Mystique can shut down the power to dark cerebro and she rolls her eyes.
I don't see it
She can team up with the heroes from time to time but Mystique should always retain that double-faced, cold personality.
I agree! And it wouldn't matter if she was gone for the next few films. Things happen in between them. I mean, we still have no idea what exactly happened to Stryker and Wolverine after DOFP's ending. .
