i'm guessing no, right? there are errors on it all the time?

can someone give me an example of some errors for some movies right now? (ie links)

No, of course they're not ALWAYS right. Nothing is infallible (except our lord and savior, the FSM)

Sometimes data is submitted by users, kind of like wikipedia, but not as easily so not many people input false data, but sometimes incorrect info slips through

Not exactly an error, but, for instance, I was on the trivia page for transformers today, and the same piece of trivia had been added by two different people. Same info twice, but worded differently.

what data can be submitted by users?

btw i see what ur saying but by errors i meant like

they would put the wrong actors for certain roles / movies, etc

PLEASE do not type like that... :(

Yes, it is possible to have the wrong actors listed, but they're usually right 99.99% of the time. If you go to the bottom of any IMDb page, there's a button that says update, and written below is:
"You may report errors and omissions on this page to the IMDb database managers. They will be examined and if approved will be included in a future update. Clicking the 'Update' button will take you through a step-by-step process."

LOL sorry.

I was hoping to find an existing error on IMDB right now.... guess that's going to be highly unlikely :(.

Thanks for the help E.

Uh, how is he typing that's so bad? I know the grammar and whatever are borked, but what he said was perfectly understandable.

As far as IMDb, they're usually pretty accurate. People say they're wrong a lot but I don't think I've ever noticed a real error.

Thanks for the input SSMGS.

Well they're wrong with unreleased movies and casting. Most of the time with unreleased movies they'll have the rumour casting, which are usually totally wrong.

They are getting better at correcting the mistakes.

Well a lot of that could be just the ever-changing nature of the movie business. They do have it now where they'll indicate a particular cast member is just rumored if that's the case, i.e. Sin City 2.

How about changing the thread title to "Is IMDB always 100% false?

The thing about imdb which I got from somewhere, maybe here, was that:

"IMDB is usually accurrate when the movie has come out already but all those titles in development hell or early production are usually wrong."

Well, they once listed Rosemary Harris as playing Aunt May/Carnage...

Yeah, when it's coming to movies not released yet, the "facts" are most of the time pure speculation. They have for example The Dark Tower set for a 2010-release, but at the moment there have been absolutely no comfirmation that it will be adapted into a movie or tv-series

Yes, but usually that's because the movie studio has ANNOUNCED those things, and so IMDb lists them. But sometimes actors drop out, and word doesn't spread fast enough. Or a movie studio announces a movie that they intend to release in a year, and so IMDb lists it because it's been announced, but then the project never quite materializes. It happens.

Missing punctuation and lack of capitalization I can deal with, but the use of "ur" instead of "you're" was like nails on a chalkboard when I read it. :(

IMDB isn't always reliable, but it provides a lot of useful information. The only thing that I truly hate about that site is the message boards.

Basically my thoughts on the subject as well.

NO, never go there for official information. Plus the people on the message boards are the most annoying group of people on ANY message board.

That's how I see imdb

LOL...

oh wait that was a serious question wasn't it?

No site is 100% accurate.....BUT IMDB is one that is usually slower than the others, and yes individuals can submit information......

sorry that question just hit me funny....

i don't go there for movies much but they have listed an actor for the last two years in a series finale and he hasn't shown up either time- also there was no evidence that said actor or character he was meant to play was ever going to be in the finale's at all
