Suspension of disbelief is one thing - tackiness is another. I HATED the X-men costumes, but I could suspend my disbelief so long as real people weren't wearing them. I mean, Sabretooth jumped around in a FUR-LINED LEOTARD! No way would I buy that!

Besides - the X-men movies weren't made only for comic-book fans, they were made for general audiences whose sense of disbelief is, shall we say, a little more discerning than you.

So?

Designs could have been constructed that could have bared similar resemblences to the costumes in the comics tht could have looked very practical but no. What we got was a lazy-ass slap on the black leather design just because the general audience may find the idea of varying colour costumed schemes ridiculous in a comic book movie.:whatever: :o
Better designs and varying colours do not have to be exact duplicates of the comics but that doesn't stop it from working well on screen.

I find that the suits work best when there's only a single superhero - that's why it works with Spider-Man and Batman and Daredevil in their respective movies.

But having a huge team, all with customized costumes, would be visual clutter, and detract from the other visuals of the story.

I on the other hand think it adds to the visuals, showcasing variety, individuality and takes away monotony. Alot happens with these characters, so lets see it.

why is everyone concerned about RDJR's age? Tony Stark is a billionaire industrialist! Who knows how his character will be written in the movie. You dont need to know how a guy makes his billions. DO you care how Donald Trump made his money? I want to see Tony Stark established in society. He's not the kind of character who really needs a deep rooted origin, except his combat days. But Heroes Reborn took care of that, as he didn't need to be shot by a fat Vietnamese officer.

Stop crying too old. He is 41, perfect age, good actor.

I'm gonna say no. I'm not too happy about him being cast, but I hope he proves me wrong.

At first I didn't know how to take it. But, after a few minutes of it setting in, I thought, yeah it could work, I think he's a good choice.

After seeing some of the manips it helped me along accepting it aswell. :woot:

i still think it sucks. i was so excited for this movie but i have hated downey jr forever. he's to old, too ugly, and to CRAPPY of an actor. this is going to ruin the movie for me.

all i can do is pray that he's in the suit for 90% of the movie so we don't really have to see him

He's not too old and he'll make a great part.

Tony Stark has always been shown to be about 40 years old.

People care too much about future sequels and the actors age that forget about the first ****ing movie being made now.

Read his interview regarding the character and tell me you still don't think he's a good fit.

Robert Downey Jr. is one of the most talented, intelligent, and respected actors alive today, that's the reason he keeps getting work, personal problems be damned.
His attitude is great, because though he's really climbing back to the top, he makes it sound as if he's only sprinting, and I love that.

The casting so far has been brilliant, if Favreau delivers, then Downey and Howard will follow suit w/ the greatest of ease.

i am still not happy about this 40 year old robert downey jr crap, i know he can play a good drunk...

Is this guy talking about the same actor? RDjr is one of the finest actors and probably one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. Considering he was drunk/drug abuser I think him playing Tony Stark will not be a problem. If people are mad about this casting then I have to say they were probably the same people mad about Tobey Macguire as Spidey, Hugh as Logan, Ian McKellan as Magneto, and Bale as Bats. THis is rediculous that people are slapping RDjr in the face for his career when in the last 5 years he's been a star. Screw off haters!

I voted yes too, I'm just hoping hes grow's the gotee and mustach

Voted "It's too early to tell".

I'm expecting to be proven wrong though ;)

Edit: Seeing the Zodiac pics made me think of Johnny Depp instead, hehehe.

I have already seen all Zodiac clips and I am sure to sya that RDJ's acting is terrific

BTW, I don't think he is too old for IM role. If Tony Stark is about 35-36 in the film, it won't matter becuase Downey looks like the man of this age ;)

Zodiac movie:

shorten the hair and lose the cigarette, and you've got Stark

I oringinally voted "to early to tell" but after seeing Zodiac, i'm sold. I hadn't seen Jr in anything in while that I can recall when i heard his casting. I knew his axting wouldn't be the issue, but his appearence. After watching him in Zodiac I became a 100 percent sold. He's going to be good as stark. My issue is his age. Now Jr isn't an old man, but at 40 plus and to be heading up a franchise, which i'm sure both marvel and the studio want is a little old. Hey I could still be wrong. I think it's best if people stop focusing on age but more so who's right for the job, and as best I can tell Jr is the right choice.

^^^

I notice that he always had this crazy (in good meaning) hairstyle :D

Nice pic of RDJ.
He will make a great Iron Man (my favorite Marvel superhero :D).

Has anyone seen Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang?
