Is Super-Heroism Possible?

According to hulk fans we just need to get really, really ANGRY!!!

Seriously some things are possible, but are they super? Feats of strength, pain thresholds, enhanced hearing etc.

I think that you would need to specify a power and why it could exist.

As me and Chibikiryama discussed before, being a non powered Superhero is not only close to impossible it's incredibly impractical.

You wouldn't be able to live a normal life during the day and be a superhero by night. And you likely wouldn't catch any criminals either.

Yeah, but how fun would it be for us here on the hype to hear the adventures of another person really being a vigilante?

I mean it wouldn't really be adventure, more "walked the streets from 1am to 3am. Saw a cat in a tree and tried to help it down, but it clawed my face instead."

I would love that. :)

And as I've said, I think all that depends on how you go about it. But then, that's an arguement the two of us have gotten into several times and there's no real point in contunuing as neither of us are going to yeald.

Really, this is just a thinly veiled bump, as I find this thread rather interesting.

Well where I live there are alot of gangs that go out at night and gang beat people then steal their money.

Normal heroism can and is done, but on a super hero scale?Perhaps...but no one in their right minds would wear a costume and perform good deeds.

Well I think it all depends on what your wearing as a costume. For instance most super-heroes wear bright colored, flamboyant costumes, but I think the best person who can create a costume for a hero and make it look good is Alex Ross. The guy took Wolverine's bright yellow costume and made this cool ass costume. I think if you are going to wear a costume atleast think long and hard about it because you'll be wearing it in public.

Finally I have my costume made and my weapon of choice designed. I have been working on blue prints for a while now. But atleast I can start doing what I've always wanted.

My friend also wants to become a super hero and wants to be just like Iron-Man. He would like to know how to make his costume and fly stuf that Iron-Man does?

He has an idea of what he wants to have on his suit but doesnt know how to get it. And I have the blue prints for what I would use as a weapon all done and will post them here soon.

^ I believe I have a Beta Particle Generator in my parent's garage. :o

Um thanks i guess, but what about actually having powers? Like Wolverine for instance. His claws are actually a part of his skeletal structure and his healing factor and senses?

Well I guess as some of you might know if you've been following this thread carefully, that I have chosen to become a super-hero, as strange as it might sound. I know you might think I'm crazy or just trying to be something I'm not, but now I think pehaps I've crossed that line that divides comic books from reality and have become something new, something with more meaning than before. And now I'll give you my first night as the super-hero known as Renegade.

January 27, 2007

It was about 8:30 pm and the sun had set by now. I was nervous, very nervous about how it would all turn out. But I was determined to accomplish this. I had been dreaming of this moment all of my life and now it had come so fast and I was not about to give that up. So I thought it over again and again in my head for a while longer, until I checked the clock at 9:15. It was now or never so I changed confidently into my black and red costume and collected my gear, for this was to be a trip to remember. In the previous weeks I had been building a weapon that would truly make me like my super-hero I created Renegade. I had two metal (what kind unknown) sheets about a foot long and 3 inches wide. I placed two pipes with an inch in diameter on each of the sheets. Then I had solid iron pipes about half a centimeter in diameter in each of the other pipes, these iron pipes I had placed had to prove strong as I would be using them in any fight that I needed them to defend myself. So to cut to the chase my weapon of choice should some what resemble Wolverine’s claws but instead of 3 claws there are 2 on each hand.
So back to the story…I climbed onto the roof of my apartment building from the fire escape stairs outside my window (I live in an apartment in the city). So by the time I had finally got myself to the top of the building it was pretty quiet besides the sound of cars going by and the odd couple of people walking up and down the street. But soon enough as I jumped from building to building without a thought of falling because the buildings being so close together, I caught the faint sound of a plea for help. So following the sounds of whoever it was who was in need of help, I quickly found myself in a situation that would test my humanity. The center of all the desperation was in between two small buildings, in the alley. As ironic as it was that I’d find trouble here, I took the short second to think of what I was about to do. I sat on the rooftop watching as the mugger tried to make his way with a young woman’s purse and other belongings. I could confront the mugger and be the hero or leave the scene and forget the entire night.
I chose the hero. Since the building I was perched on was not so high up I jumped down from my spot and went for the mugger. I pulled him off and threw him into the wall and he dropped the young woman’s purse and other stuff. With all my strength I threw a few punches into the mugger’s face then a kick to the stomach. He pulled out a knife and jumped back to the other wall as he swung out at me. I found this a perfect time to use my claws that I had made, so I “popped” my claws out on my right hand and swung back and found myself luckier than him as I cut him slightly across the shoulder and the chest tearing his shirt. He dropped his knife and I smashed my knee into his face leaving him unconscious on the ground. After the fight my knees were shaking like crazy from the excitement and the fear. But I looked to the young girl who had shifted to the sidewalk and looked as if she had seen a ghost. I helped her with her things and quickly left the scene. When I got home around 10:45 pm, I was exhausted, but not from jumping rooftop because I had done the unthinkable. I had dressed up in a costume and patrolled the city looking for crime to fight and in the end, found some, and defeated it.
I think that night I became what I’ve always wanted. A super-hero. And now that I’ve become one I doubt that this last adventure will be the end.

^ You're a bloody legend mate. :)

You and my friend should shake hands because lately he has done something like that. Minus the costume (regular street clothes for him), but he has these metal weapons that he uses, and a nice metal (retractable) pole. If I can ever work out how to post pictures on here, I'll post pics of them some day.

But great adventure Donald.

Thanks:yay: , I'd love to meet him. And I hope I to get out on the streets again soon and tell you bout more about my stories.

Can't wait to hear about your next adventure.

His name is Bes, but no hero name that I know of, but he does love Batman and the Punisher.

wow, retractable pole, i have one of those..but i don't go around with it because they are illegal here, i found out after i bought it :(
