We all know how the wii is kickin' ass and taken names, but do you think that the momentum can last or is this the big boom before the crash?

I think the wii actually has a chance for nearly ten yrs nintendo's had good and long taste of humble pie and is finally getting its act together. I believe that nintendo's ready to give Microsoft and Sony a fight to the death.

what do you guys think?? (do try not to make it a flame war plz)

if it was just a fad, it wouldn't be doing as well as it still is. it's been what? ten months? it's still consistently number 1. fads don't last this long.

I don't care what anyone says, the Wii is a frickin' fad.

No, no, it's not. It's the best game system out, and all it's going to do is rise in popularity as third party developers start to make good games for it.

Popularity doesn't equal a better game system. The thing is, this is the most kid friendly video game system probably ever created. Its something that both adults and children can have equal amounts of fun all the while being less expensive than the PS3 and 360. Will it fade out? Maybe, but it doesn't really look like it.

I personally do not like it but the numbers do not lie.Sony is piss and crapping all itself and digging itself a grave unless they come out with something good, and lowering the price.I,myself, have a 360 and am perfectly happy with it.

I think the 360 is the best sytem out right now, but Wii is definitely the most user friendly...while us hardcore, jaded gamers may say things like "fad!" and "gimmick!" about it, it's simply not true. It's not FOR us. Sure, there's a few games on it that we'll absolutely love too, such as the port of RE4, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros, etc. But the majority of the system is made for the casual gamer, of all ages. That's who it's for, and that's who's gonna decide the whole "console wars" thing. Wii is here to stay.

Wii is like the new Furby. For a year of three, it's like :D but after that, people are like  when they hear it's name. In terms of it's place in gaming history, if anything I suspect it's only widening the gap between hardcore and casual gamers to an uncomfortably large size.

I didn't buy one because I knew I'd get bored like I got with my EyeToy.

That and I'm over 21, and not sucked in by Mario. I got a PS3 (my bother wanted one so I went halves) and that'll more than do for now.

You weren't sucked in by Mario but you were sucked in by....exactly what on the PS3?

If you are over the age of 12, you shouldnt be sucked in by Mario, period.

I think the Wii-Wii is here to stay but i dont think itll have the critical success titles that the 360 and Ps3 will have. Itll continue to have solid games produced for the "everyday" gamer but it wont get the killer aps like a Gears of War or Halo or Metal Gear Solid.

Wii was never about maintaining games' artistic integrity, anyway. It was meant to be the easiest system for kids age 14 and under to get their hands on, and maybe get Mom and Dad to play it a few times in the process.

IA, like the last generation, I think the Wii's biggest success is going to come from Nintendo's 1st party titles. I dont see huge 3rd party games coming out of this

I stopped reading this after the first sentence..."OMG colors and no violence! s**ty little kids game! teh gehy!" is all I could hear after that...people like you are the reason I hate most "hardcore" gamers.

I dont care if you read the whole thing or not. Mario is for children, period.

I wasn't disagreeing with him about not getting suckered into the whole Mario/Nintendo experience, as I have pretty much the same views on that as you do. I wanted to know what interested him in the PS3.

I certainly hope the wii is a fad, because I really don't want this focus on non-gamers and mindless simplicity to spill over into the next generation. :(

There's no such thing as kids games or adult games...there's fun games, and not fun games...mario is fun as hell, who cares if kids can also play it.

No, its not. Its for people who like solid gameplay. I would take a mario game over any FPS any day of the week.

Metroid? Zelda? Mario? Smash? What the hell are your sort of killer apps, because these are amazing games!
