Is William Stryker becoming General Zod?

General Zod wasn't that important of a character before appearing in the Superman movies, in fact, until Last Son he wasn't even used much in the comics, but he became famous for people that don't read comics.
The same seems to hapen with William Stryker, until X-2 he had few appearances and wasn't even that important, then he even appeared in wolverine too ( he had to), and from what i've seen from the x films made before first class Magneto and Stryker were the only villains used, wich was actually a shame.
William was even used again in Decimation.
This really points out the influence the movies cause on the comics.

There is no doubt that Stryker is the general zod of modern day comic films.

Whats interesting is that the X films suffer from the same problem as the old superman movies: constantly using the archnemesis over and over again.

Except they used a different villain in the latest movie, which is more then you say for Superman.
