BvS It's always Darkest before The Dawn... Chris Terrio IS the Script Writer

I was in the US Navy for 11 years and could tell you this is not true
It's not like a woman can't admit someone's hot, it's just why is it there at all? It's the bottom line of the movie? Ugh...

To provide a light hearted moment in a film people were saying was lacking in.

Considering what had just occurred it was misplaced and came of as awkward. The transitioning from Zods death to that satellite scene was just awful.

What even though it's a captain addressing a general?

My Experience: I was stationed on an Aircraft Carrier. The CO was a Captain and we had a 2 star admiral with us. We were a night away from pulling into Sydney Australia. I worked in Navigation and was on the bridge most of the time. The admiral came to my chart table and asked if I had ever been to Australia. I said no. He advised me to do the Adopt a Sailor program (where families will take a sailor home and give him a home cooked meal). He told me that the sailors called it Adopt a "male sex organ" because it's mostly single ladies signing up for it.

As we were tying up lines the CO, XO, Navigator and Operations Officer...all upper officers were on their binoculars looking at the ladies on the pier.

Thor didn't wreck an entire city and countless lives were not lost when Jane and friend were slumbering over a shirtless Hemsworth. Also it's in relation to context and time and place.
Superman didn't wreck a city either.

Something that seems to get lost in translation with all this talk of what the world population might think of 'The alien that just destroyed metropolis' is the idea that the world does know the truth of the matter. It's like when JJ lambastes spiderman for all the harm he's done and crushes him with moral rhetoric. We the audience happen to know the truth of the matter. Spiderman is actually a great kid saving lives.

There's something to be said for just what kinda perspective this army lady has. What kinda truth in all of this she's privy to. For starters, there is what he just told her about wanting to help, there is the idea that she knows first hand that he saved her and everyone else, there is(and this one is pure speculation) the idea that he didn't actually destroy the city but literally saved it....among other things.

It's interesting how much of JJ Jameson like smear campaigning I've read from fans. I hope Synder knows how interesting a opportunity he has here. To actually have a large portion of the film audience at that kinda loss.

Thors very brother actually did go on to wreck a city(to which thor 'contributed') and has slaughtered whole hordes of people before that, but what's interesting however that those professional women would gush over a pretty stranger whilst this army lady will gush over a proven(and american) hero. I wonder if Darcy's gushing over Thor would theoretically stop after he hath been involved in some huge battle. I also wonder how much more in fight property damage superman has caused vs thor.

Lastly, this idea of misplaced/insensitive humor is troublesome. Sorry but weeks after an incident in which no personal family members were lost isn't the same as 2 minutes after. The way people make it sound it's as those Jenny Olson said the line mid fight.

Yeh to be honest that was my one major gripe with the film. I loved it all apart from it just felt like a huge jump to go from an emotional Supes just having killed Zod (Cavill really acting the **** out of that scene too in my opinion he smashed it) to the satellite scene. Really could have either cut it completely OR at least have it a little more in line with what had just happened.

If they HAD to have that line because they liked it and wanted it in she could have said it earlier...maybe after he flies off after the "you might wanna stand back a little" bit to add to that scene as a more light hearted scene.

I have not read the script...been looking for it. But this may be more the fault of the editor than the screenwriter.

It's essentially just 'if it moves, kill it' again. I love fan message board mentality of 'why don't you do it better'. C'mon dude.

I really don't think the 'it's for kids' reason is right either. They aren't allowed original dialogue?

And Goyer has nothing to do with it. Derivative dialogue is derivative from any writer.

Is it a big deal if it's just another variant? Like I said, it is something a soldier/tactician would say, so where's the big deal? Worse is the fan mentality of critiquing dialogue and expecting the characters to go into some philosophical debates. As for Goyer, do you really think that is the case for all writers? I have yet to see people complain about dialogue issues from the Avengers, yet Goyer's dialogue is critiqued to hell and back, and hell again.

The whole reason I said "suggest something better then," is because fans walk a thin line between expecting deep monologues about a philosophical issue (when it really isn't necessary) vs. making characters sound pretentious because of increased vocabulary (which is also superfluous considering that dialogue is supposed to be reflecting everyday human interactions, to be understood by all people, not scholarly debates which would exclude a majority of its viewers).

I don't know what's more disturbing and ridiculous. That story or that you were in the armed forces.

I've seen it good handled (not great). I mean add more drama would've been bad instead of good. the purpose was for showing Superman was not a puppet from the goverment. The girls line may have been out of place but the scene of the satelite was good placed. also if you noticed they sort of "remember" the casualties on Smallville and Metropolis with the cementery scene and IMO it was a perfect ending to have the kid's clark scene and then the DP. But I can notice that in BB also they left the city in chaos and they didn't especially focused on the consequences and they closed that scene in TDK with the scarecrow scene. I can see BvS doing a similar case.

Yeah the movie had flaws but can you just move on? cause these "complaints" were said 1000 times by almost the same people and it's getting annoying.
Can we just back on topic what could we expect, and think we're going to see in the next movie?

That's raw animal magnetism right there

MoS had lots of awkward lines of dialogue, but it had good stuff too and I think the bad ones gets blown up a bit too much at times. Sure, some lines are ripe to make fun of, which makes them appear as bigger issues than they are. Not saying they don't hurt part of the experience for me though, just not as much as they seem to do for some.

Lol that's a great story, what a cool Admiral. Guess I was mistaken about how the military operates. I can't front to knowing about it as I am merely going from assumptions and what I have seen on tv.:yay:

I had the same ones until I was in and saw that the saying "Work hard, Play Hard" fits perfectly for the military.

"Where did you train-on a farm?!"-Great, especially the delivery.

"Jor-El: Our people can co-exist.
General Zod: So we can suffer through years of pain, trying to adapt like your son has?
Jor-El: You're talking about genocide.
General Zod: Yes! And I'm arguing its merits with a ghost."
-Mediocre, IMHO. The thought of conquering Earth doesn't cross Zod's mind.

Borderline

"Faora: You're weak, son of El. The fact that you possess a sense of morality and we do not gives us an evolutionary advantage. And if history has proven anything, it is that evolution always wins!"

Faora doesn't seem to know the difference between survival of the fittest and Evolution. Either Kryptonians know all about evolution, or they are so far removed from worldly science that it doesn't matter. Good delivery, though.

BAD

"Lois Lane: They say it's all downhill after the first kiss.
Clark Kent/Kal-El: Only if you're kissing a human."

Terrible

"Are you effing stupid?!"

Also, the Kryptonians speak English. With NO explanation.

At least Kara in the Supergirl comic could ONLY speak Kryptonian, intially speaking.

You aren't seriously complaining about this are you

Zod is trying to recreate Krypton...a non super powered Krypton.

Could kryptonian science have different beliefs than ours?

Kryptonians 'speaking' english was not that big a thing to me. It stands to reason that they learned the language when they came to Earth and put out the "You are not alone" message.
