BvS It's always Darkest before The Dawn... Chris Terrio IS the Script Writer

It sure is. And it's happened with the last 2 major DC movies. MOS and TDKR.

But at the same time, respect the man swinging for the fences and only hitting a double (MoS, TDK) over the woosie getting a walk (Captain America).

I do respect them for that. I'd rather have a movie be ambitious and fail than succeed by having minimal ambition.

Superman Returns Director Blames Women for Movie's Failure

:-)

That makes the ******ed love triangle make a lot more sense. He wanted to cash in on that Notebook money. I mean he even cast James Marsden as the romantic competition.

One would wonder why he'd even bother making a female orientated movie, when there was clearly no way WB would market it as such. I mean it was pretty clear that by the time they started broadcasting TV spots with P.O.D. Nu Metal playing in them that they were desperate to get young men to see it.

I actually remember reading in reputable media, when Superman Returns came out, that they had a hard time building Brandon Routh's suit because his jock was too big. If you think about it, that's totally absurd, why would they have a hard time building the suit? It's just fabric.

In hindsight, they probably leaked that anecdote to the media because they thought it would encourage women to go see the movie.

I'm rather curious of the Nolan/Goyer ratio split for Batman movies.

Because I thought the script was;
'okay' in BB,
awesome in TDK
and 'so so' in TDKR

haha, Brian Singer.

He doesn't have a clue.

I guess I should commend him for trying to target a big-budget superhero movie at women. But he really doesn't understand that women aren't that different from men in that both sexes demand a quality movie. If he's assuming that women want romance (and I'm thinking he was, given some of the ads for SR), where was it? Was it between actors that had no chemistry? Was is during that creepy stalking scene? I didn't find SR very romantic and I gather many didn't since it didn't do as well as expected. And maybe men like romance too. And some women appreciate action. Not only does he make stereotypical assumptions about both sexes, but he ignores the basic fact that all people prefer a well-done and well-rounded movie. A superman movie should be targeted at everyone and include romance, action, drama and comedy.

Nothin like a little Hall n Oates to put butts in seats.

I love these genre switch trailers.

Returns fails because it is pandering to a movie made 30 years before it.
Say what you want about MoS and the sequel with 'out there' casting and theme choices but at least they are willing to live or die by THEIR choices rather than Donner's.

lol, I wouldn't put it past them. "Let's just forget about making a decent movie! We can just say he has a giant schlong and the women will be there!"

This pretty much.

I know a lot of women who didn't even care for the supposed love story at all. Singer's inability to tap into Superman's great mythology and provide a good love story are two big reasons for the movie's failure.

Heck, MOS wasn't designated at all to be a love story for Clark and Lois and yet it managed to gain a lot of fans regarding on how their relationship was portrayed.

Ha! Really? I saw some making of SR docu and there are some shots where Routh was in some skin tight full spandex bodysuit and I didn't see anything exceptionally impressive. :oldrazz:

Glad they took the opposite approach with MoS. :oldrazz:

^Yes.

BTW he has been gaining weight lately. The start of a downward spiral?

(probably not) :oldrazz:

I don't care about the setback for WB that was Superman Returns (still dig the flawed film), this guy gets a lifetime pass from me for X-Men, X2, and the Usual Suspects. Sorry. He just does.

Since when have people in general demanded quality movies?

You've seen the crap that sells, right?

Don't forget Apt Pupil.

Usual suspects is an amazing movie Xmen 1 and 2 not so much, he seemed to forget that there are other Xmen not called wolverine. First class was easily the best Xmen film funny thing is that's the one Singer never directed.

Singer didn't direct a majority of the X-Men films and was a producer of First Class so your point is moot.

First Class is the best X-Men movie by miles.

To be fair Marvel seemed to forget this too
