BvS It's always Darkest before The Dawn... Chris Terrio IS the Script Writer

I thought movie scripts are rarely ever finished and writers still submit revisions even while filming?

Aye too true. And I just noticed that story was posted 5 days ago. Damn their Twitter posting old links!

Nope, the audience is not wrong.

I am constantly amused by the anti-Nolan revisionist historians constantly claiming on these boards that TDKT is not great, particularly when it comes from marvel fans.

These movies were in fact solid and well loved by public and critics alike. The second one was not just good, but shockingly good.

As evidence of their greatness, ill point out that several directors have tried to copy Nolan, and all have failed.

There is such a silly little rivalry between Marvel and DC. Who cares? It is comics, little cartoons on paper written for kids/adults to get a kick out of. The goal in the end is to entertain and make as much money as they can. Same with movies. Can't someone like both Marvel and DC characters.

I like both because i like good stories and both companies are capable of creating good stories. Because i understand that Marvel and DC don't actually give a **** about me or you, they just want our money. Showing loyalty to corporations is beyond insane in my view.

Exactly, the only companies I have any loyalty too are the couple smaller like auto body shops and bakeries and things like that which family/friends run. Other than that, why would I care? I liked Man of Steel, all the Nolan Batman movies, and I liked Iron Man 1, the second Hulk movie, and the Avengers was okay too. I will see Captain America 2, and I saw the 2 Thor movies as well, I want to see the Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men movie coming out, and so what?

This article has Jeremy Irons claiming the script still isn't finished. Is this normal, so late in production? Perhaps its just tweaks they're working on?

http://www.manofsteelfanpage.com/ma...upermans-alfred-says-script-not-finished-yet/

It's not that uncommon to start without a finished script.

Whedon on The Avengers: "The script took me along time and there was a point at which I was shooting it, writing it and editing all at the same time because I had to get sequences out early because they had special effects and they take a long time. I would film all night and go to Starbucks to write for the next week."

Bridges on Iron Man: "They had no script, man. They had an outline. We would show up for big scenes every day and we wouldn't know what we were going to say. We would have to go into our trailer and work on this scene and call up writers on the phone, 'You got any ideas?' Meanwhile the crew is tapping their foot on the stage waiting for us to come on."

Honestly, I've said this before and I'll say this again....no matter how "great" Chris is as a writer, if the story that Goyer and Snyder came up with still leaves much to be desired, then I doubt that there's much that Chris could do to make it better.

I think there is some face saving going on, and what Goyer originally came up with didn't pass the Affleck test lol. Chris didn't just team up, he's taken over :o

I used to always read on here "Goyer is a great idea man, he just needs help with his scripts". Is that not the case anymore?

Well there are still going to be those people with negativity towards this film.

Do you guys think it is merely a contribution or a takeover?

From the Eisenberg/Irons press release:

Chris Terrio is currently writing the script from a screenplay by David S. Goyer.

Sounds pretty significant to me.

Could it be a nice way of saying Chris Terrio is rewriting Man of Steel sequel? :)

I just realised today that every single one of Snyder's movies except for Dawn of the Dead features a flashback and or dream sequence.

I liked most of the flashback scenes in MoS, but I thought they could have been smoother in their regard to the film's pacing.

I love the sound of that.:woot:

what will determine if he took over will be how they are listed in the credits

While this is good news may i remind everyone here that the infamous Batman & Robin was also written by a screenwriter (Akiva goldsman) who won an Oscar for best adapted screenplay (A Beautiful Mind), so i do have my doubts on this but nevertheless this is still awesome news!

And you know what else? Goldsman won that Oscar AFTER writing B&R while Terrio is writing BVS AFTER winning an Oscar for writing Argo.

I get they were great films and people loved them. They just did not click with me personally except for Batman begins. I know everyone loves them and I have some intellectual understanding but when I actually watch them the negative is so strong and , for me, the positive almost nonexistent.

It can be very frustrating when most others see some really cool in a movie about one of your favorite characters and you can't. I've watched TDK several times and each time I'm hyped to "get it" but its always worse than I remembered ( for me ).

I'm really excited for a Batman I might get into. I love almost all Snyder and Goyer's work ( MOS is my 2nd favorite CBM after the Avengers) and if Terrio can polish things up great.

Honestly? I don't know. But I hope Terrio's contributions are significant. I hope he writes most of the dialogue at least.

I don't know if you read a few of Affleck's interviews about BVS, but he mentioned that "Chris Terrio wrote a terrific script". Which leads me to believe he completely overhauled Goyer's script.

Now, depending on WGA arbitration, Goyer may get a writing credit (aside from story) alongside Terrio -- no matter how much or how little of Goyer's script was used during shooting. If the credits read "Screenplay by Chris Terrio and David Goyer", we shouldn't worry about that too much. (Let's complain or rave about the script after the movie comes out.)

From what I've heard, Goyer will probably retain a story credit. But the script itself was basically a page 1 re-write for Terrio. And because of the re-write being so significant, it was the main force behind the initial release date change.

Which is exactly where he should be.
