Comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Part 2

finale was definitely the weakest episode of the season but it was still enjoyable. the season really flew by i think.

where the hell were the McPoyle's this season?!

I swear, every time you guys declare an episode the weakest of the season, it ends up being one that I'd rank high. Granted, I don't think the episode wrapped up well, but I was feeling it.

In fact, from now on, I'm just going to assume that L. Ron Hubbard began Scientology because his roomate wouldn't stop eating his Girl Scout cookies.

Didn't realize it was the finale but I was laughing the whole time. Great episode. Frank trying to hurt the hot chick was hilarious. Could have used a bit more Charlie for me but all in all the whole season was damn good.

Another excellent season of ‘Sunny’ (yes, I’m caught up on all 10 seasons and xmas special now)

How would everyone rank the episodes this season?
For me in order:
The Gang Beats Boggs: A (I know some thought it was weak, but it was my first eppy so it holds a special place for me…. And Dee after 70 beers is “Best Dee” especially while talking to a Boss Hogg hallucination and freaking out everyone else in her row)
Frank Retires: A (Frank wasting away after retirement, and Mac “playing both sides of the fence” makes this an instant classic)
The Gang Misses the Boat: A- (Dennis being Dennis, Frank being Frank…. Great callback to the second episode of the series)
Charlie Work: A- (no jokes made me bust a gut, but it was consistently funny throughout in smaller ways, and technically original and innovative)
The Gang Group Dates: A- (Dennis being Dennis, and the Waitress just failing at everything even adapting to modern technology)
The Gang Spies like U.S.: B+ (it wasn’t a classic, but it did make me laugh a lot, especially Charlie yelling at the ear-piece in Mac and Dennis’s apartment and the confusion over cream-pies was funny at first (but then kinda got run into the ground by the end))
The Gang Goes on Family Fight: B (Key was great as the host, but I can’t remember anything making me laugh out loud. Consistently amusing, but fell short of its potential and not very memorable in retrospect)
Ass Kickers United: B- (Uneven. Some parts seemed to go nowhere, like Frank training the hottie. But there were some laughs and Dennis sank to new depraved lows)
Psycho Pete Returns: B- (the Cricket bathroom confessional saves it)
Mac Kills his Dad: C+ (what a letdown, because I usually love any episode with Mac’s dad. The Bill Ponderosa subplot really killed it; he’s just not a funny character. My only laugh-out-loud moment was Charlie’s mom describing all her nasty nighttime antics)

Good last episode.

Overall, I would say this is one of the weaker seasons. Not bad by any means, though.

I thought it was too weird and stupid, slightly boring as well.

I thought the finale was good, but I wouldn't rate it as among the top 5 episodes this season. My favourite episode this season was "Psycho Pete Returns."

I didn't hate the finale, but it wasn't the best episode this season. My least favorite this season, was probably Mac Kills his Dad. But overall, I thought this was a good season.

Agreed. 'Mac Kills his Dad' was imo the second worst episode of the entire series after 'Frank's Brother.' It just wasn't funny, except for one or two bits.

This season was pretty good, but not one of their best. I thought season 9 had more classic episodes.

A lot of people didn't like Frank's Brother, I had no problem with it. The episode I didn't really like was the one where Mac is sleeping with the Waitress.

"Mac kills his Dad" is great purely for Charlie. The L&O investigation, his mom, and reacting with some clarity to the thought Mac's Dad being guilty.

Psycho Pete was the worst ep. this season.

I wonder how dumb they'll end up making Mac next season?

Charlie is just more naive, while Mac is straight up ignorant.

Mac choking himself out was seriously one of my favorite moments this season. I seriously lost it.

I liked that episode. I'd be interested in knowing why Pyro wasn't a fan.

A good amount of laughs but a poor season finale. This season flew by.

I guess it's because it reminded me a lot of the first season and I wasn't really that big of a fan of the first season granted it had it's moments but still I wasn't that impressed. Plus it was the only episode that had no Dee and no Frank and I like the dynamic of all five of them together.

Fair enough.

I cracked up when Mac and Dennis convinced Charlie he was dreaming. And I think that was the first time we encountered Dennis' VHS "library."

I enjoyed the first season. It's more subtle like the first season of the 'Simpsons' or other sitcoms that were still establishing themselves early on. Not uproarious funny like later seasons, but perhaps a bit more grounded and less zany (and I'm not saying that's a negative aspect of the later seasons, but sometimes the quieter and more decompressed episodes are a nice change from the frantic, cartoonish qualities of the later seasons).

On the other hand, I do think Frank added an essential dynamic, and his absense sticks out when I watch them.

Yeah, the first season is good on its own but Frank just completes the circle. It also introduces the McPoyles, the tranny, the waitress and others so I never recommend new viewers to skip it.

The zaniest the first season probably got was Charlie in a Nazi uniform, casually eating a banana.

YOU HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF THE SMELL, YOU B***H!!! :argh:
