Comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Part 2

This felt like classic IASIP. Great episode.

Other than the Charlie stuff, and Mac... I thought it wasn't that funny.

'It's Always Sunny's' Kaitlin Olson to Topline Fox Family Comedy 'The Mick'
From Sunny duo John Chernin and Dave Chernin, the single-camera comedy revolves around a hard-living, foul-mouthed woman who moves to affluent Greenwich, Conn., to raise the spoiled kids of her wealthy sister, who has fled the country to avoid a federal indictment. She quickly learns what everyone else already knows: Other people's children are awful.

Olson will star as Mackenzie "Mickey" Murphy (aka The Mick), a hapless mess, a wry-humored, hard-drinking, cigarette-smoking, living-large kind of gal, always "between" jobs and always broke. A scrappy survivor who's run out of options, she decides to pay her rich sister a visit, hoping for a little handout. What she gets, instead, is a full-time babysitting gig when her sister and husband are forced to flee the country in a hurry.
The article says that if the pilot gets picked up, she'll be able to juggle both shows, but I wonder if her even being up for a new show is an indicator that we might be nearing the end.

I watched an interview with her recently, and she said they have an end date in mind but didn't want to say what it was obviously. So it must be somewhat soon-ish.

Yeah, it feels like it's getting close to the end. This two part finale also seems like a sign that the end is close given [BLACKOUT]Mac's revelation[/BLACKOUT] signifying the end of a drawn out joke that's been going on for multiple seasons now. They've still got at least one more season after this. Maybe that's enough. The show is still funny and fresh, but it would be best if they went out on a high note.

So...huh...I mean...huh

Really giving off a series finale vibe. The episode itself I would say wasn't great, it was ok.

i thought The Gang Goes to Hell was hilarious, especially the scenes involving Dennis and Mac

Mac - "Guys, you are not gonna believe this but there are two gay men on this cruise!"

Charlie - "Who's the other one?"

:woot:

We got to the "implication" in action, and it's much worse than it sounds.

This is only one half of a two part episode. It's like watching the first 15 minutes and not watching the second half.

Part 2 tonight.

OY! OY! OY! OY! OY!

Another great ep. This season really stepped up from the last one, pretty much back to form. At least IMO. I know some didn't like the 'gimmick' eps but I found them fun and a good way to freshen things up a little.

For the record, I don't dislike gimmick episodes as a rule or anything like that, I just find that they often tend to be weaker episodes. The Gang Goes To Hell (both episodes) was really good though.

Officially renewed for seasons 13 and 14

This assures that Sunny will be on the air through at least 2019. Normally I would be skeptical of a comedy show going on for so long (out of fear of it running out of steam)...but the last season was so damn strong, I am pretty excited to know the Gang will be with us for at least three more years.

I'm a little surprised, honestly. With Kaitlin going out for a new pilot, I had assumed that the end was near.

Seeing as there have been 11 seasons which I LOVED ALL and I only disliked maybe 2-3 episodes out of all and enjoyed every other episode I'd say this is good news. IASIP is THE most consistent comedy of all times. So so good. Usually the show really declines hard after a season or 2 (take arrested development, community etc) but it's astonishing how they kept the quality so consistently high.

I'm guessing they're going to end it with S14 most likely which gives us 30 more episodes to go. I honestly don't know where I'd be without Sunny in my life. Every other comedy out there doesn't cut it for me. For me IASIP is the funniest show of all times. Really disgraceful that it hasn't even won let alone nominated for an emmy. But as Charlie so beautifully said: ''GO F YOURSELVES !''.

Wanna know the secret? Only producing 10 episodes per season. It's the same technique South Park has adopted. A lot of comedies that run for over 20 episodes a season tend to get stale after season three or so because the writing staff can start to run out of ideas, but if you condense a season to 10 episodes, there's more breathing room.

I'm in the same boat, I don't not enjoy them, but sometimes those episodes come off as trying too hard, hope next season keeps things a little simpler.

By the end of the series I suspect they will have destroyed the world in some way.

Well S3 is arguably the best season for me and it had the most episodes (15). S5-6 were also one of my favs and they had 13 each. Still not much compared to some others with 18-20 ep a season but I don't think it's just the amount of episodes. I'd take S5-6 with more episodes over S10-S11 which had lesser episodes. In IASIP's case its a bit more than that imo. I guess it's the writing talent and chemistry of the 3. You don't have that with other comedies out there. It's a quite unique situation.

Both Deadline and THR seem to consider Kaitlin Olson's new pilot a frontrunner for a series order. If it gets picked up, I wonder what kind of give and take there might be between that and It's Always Sunny, if any at all.

Always Sunny comes back in less than a month, *****es

Episode titles so far....

The Gang Turns Black
The Gang Goes to a Water Park
Old Lady House: a Situation Comedy
Wolf Cola: a Public Relations Nightmare
