Comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Part 2

That uncensored f-bomb. :funny:

was there? I didn't even notice lol. great episode though... the cat tail at the crime scene had me dying.

Yeah, when Frank got caught on the hot mic and was catcalling someone on the street, she told him to f*** off.

The mic scene with Frank had me dying.

I really wanted to like these last 2 eps, but eh...they fell short for me.

I thought last night had some pretty good moments, but I didn't like the Wolf Cola/Fight Milk episode last week as much as I would have wanted to. For me, The Gang Goes to A Water Park is still the episode to beat this season.

Agreed, though I did love the premiere also.

So last night I watched The Nightman Cometh for the first time in a few years and had a revelation. Based on everything we know about Charlie and have learned since that episode I realized something:

Charlie wasn't just molested. He was pimped out. Even worse...he was pimped out by his own mother, Bonnie, who is the Troll!

It makes so much sense. It is easy to just assume that the Nightman was Uncle Jack, but there has never been an indication that Jack paid for sex with Charlie. So where does the Troll fit in? Then it all made sense. It's Bonnie. We all know Charlie's mom was a prostitute, so she was involved in the sex trade and would've known people in that world. But what The Nightman Cometh subtley reveals is that she was also pimping her son out to pedophile Johns. Thus the Nightman being forced to pay a "toll" before getting in the little boy's hole (and Charlie outright states in the final song that he is the little boy). There is no other person in Charlie's life, as a child, who could've been the Troll. And being as everything else in the play represents a person in Charlie's life or an experience he had, we can assume the Troll wasn't simply a creative device. Bonnie Kelly was the Troll and the Troll Toll was the price she charged men to rape her son.

I will never watch The Nightman Cometh in the same way. :barf:

Dat MacLaren's exterior from HIMYM.

Good one tonight.

If you were saving my life... and needed a word to just cut right through... what would would you use to call out to me?

and you can't say you wouldn't save my life... we know you would.

That might have have been the hardest I've laughed at a episode in years.

It's Always Sunny is one of the few shows that can air uncensored and not seem like they're just doing it for attention. That whole episode was great, and I'm not usually a fan of bottle episodes.

They really pushed the boundaries with this one. I hope they don't over-use these words, though. The gang dancing around those words has always been part of the charm.

Fantastic episode. One thing confused me though: Mac coming out gay when the show is going to go to season 14.

Now hear me out! I think it's great and it has been LONG over due.. I think it may have been the warmest scene from the series. But my confusion is that he is out with another 2 seasons of Always Sunny on the way.

One of the longest running gags with Mac is all the Freudian slips about him being gay, and the gang's reaction to his denial. I always figured he'd come out in the final season. Now that Mac is out, it seems one comedic dimension of the character will be missing.

However, if any writers can find a way to make it work, it's Charlie, Rob and Glenn.

What do you guys think? Maybe they will focus more on his false sense of being bad-ass, and his ignorance to common sense social situations. Hell, "The Gang gets Racist" still is the hardest I've ever laughed at Mac.

Yeah, they can still do those. Honestly, the gay jokes were getting kind of old by the time "The Gang Goes to Hell" came. So I'm glad they actually changed the status quo a bit by having him admit it and gaining $14.

I lost it when the bike starting "working". This was a fantastic episode.

I feel ya. Cool, thanks for the perspective.

Same.. then when he demonstrated it, I lost it. I currently have strep throat so this episode physically hurt me, but it was worth it.

I have to thank my ex for getting me into this show. The first comedy I ever got into was The Office, but after watching Always Sunny, The Office doesn't do much more than warrent a chuckle. Such a damn brilliant show :)

Second uncensored F-bomb in a row. Between this and both this show and You're the Worst able to get away with saying C*********, FXX and FX are great at pushing the boundaries. It makes me wonder how The Walking Dead, with Negan, can't get away with even ONE F-bomb. Even Preacher had one, although it was muted out.

I imagine there may still be jokes at Mac's expense about this and it was a nice, earned moment for him to come out, I'll admit. And it made more sense here than when he 'realized' he was gay when the gang was on that cruise.

And at the end of the day, Mac will be left with his bike and $14. That is Always Sunny at its best.

And excuse me, did Dee say she has Parkinson's?

Just that she is at an increased risk for it. I love how dismissive the gang was about it. :funny:

I think there are two things with TWD. One: It's on at 9, so uncensored F-bombs are a no-go. Two: The way AMC does the f-word censoring would just sound ridiculous if applied to a really comic-accurate Negan. "You ____ing ____ers are ____ed!" People would think their audio was f***ing up on them.

I think the best we can hope for is some extended, uncensored scenes on the DVD.
