I won't beat the poor bums.
I'll show my tax collecting snake instead.

I decided to gain money from YouTube.
You should be putting that on Worldstar.
I honestly don't even want to know. I'm sure at this point there's lots who are just being gullible or going off half cocked over the slightest of criticisms.
Krypton: I'm not afraid.
Reek: You will be... You...WILL BE...
I have finally watched the originals and am ready for Star Wars 7!
Your skills are complete...

t:Well most of the "Extended Universe" canon got tossed out with the bathwater when Disney bought Lucasfilm. However, the two cartoons, Clone Wars and Rebels ARE official canon. Clone Wars take place during the prequels, between Episodes 2 and 3, while Rebels takes place between Episodes 3 and 4. Both are good and worth checking out, but it's far too much material to cover before TFA. Still, you might want to catch up on those after TFA if you're still in SW mode and looking for more. The recent comics have been very good too, imo. Especially Shattered Empire, Darth Vader and the main Star Wars title.Oh definitely it was awesome!! I mean it's amazing how much of modern pop culture was influenced by Star Wars.
Plus watching it in theatres like everyone else 30 some years ago would've been iconic.
Btw so during the 30 year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens is there any other Star Wars lore i should brush up on before I watch SW7?

Oh yes, Vader's been great in Rebels. After the disservice that was done to him in the prequels, it's wonderful to see him back a truly menacing villain in his prime again. Makes me all the more hopeful we'll get to see him pop up in Rogue One.I should definitely check those cartoons out especially rebels since it says that James Earl Jones voiced him again, his voice was soo good!
Well... That's tricky. As wee lad in my teens they started up what is now called STAR WARS LEGENDS but what was at first the STAR WARS EXPANDED UNIVERSE. It started with the really great novel trilogy which was adapted by Dark Horse Comics known by fans as the THRAWN trilogy. A follow up story that takes place five years after ROTJ. I highly recommend it. Great read, great follow up. Then came a Dark Horse original series called DARK EMPIRE, again, I really enjoyed it (seriously, the appendix at the end of the DE TPB is some great SW's material and sets up later Dark Horse Star Wars series). And then... Then I have to say it goes off the rails a bit. There was just TOO much stuff produced and not all of it was of the quality of the Thrawn story, at least in my opinion. In any case from the 90's to just before Lucas sold to Disney that era was all the Star Wars there was outside of games. It worked it's way up to including Luke getting older, characters dying and a next generation of Skywalker blood coming into their own. It's important to note that Lucasfilm's position on these products was, as far as I remember, agnostic. They were fun for fans but as far as Lucasfilm was concerned what happened in the films was canon and not much else. Lucas proved that once the prequels arrived and a lot of the established material was moot since it didn't match up with how he depicted the Jedi, Republic or Clone Wars.
The sale to Disney was the final nail in the coffin of the EU material. Now all that has been swept away and any NEW material that is about the post ROTJ SW universe has to tie in directly with the films, all six. There have already been produced some novels and comics that describe the post ROTJ period. Thing is, the Lucasfilm story group, the people who are guiding all these ancillary products has said that in terms of the films and spin off products that they will reserve the right to cherry pick elements from the EU to inject back into canon if they so choose. The EU period produced a lot of characters that became very popular among fans and Lucasfilm/Disney want to be able to capitalize on those characters in some way in the future (or currently). So...
If you want to read some stories just for fun, as interesting takes on "What If" type SW tales then try out the Expanded Universe/Legends stuff. If you want to get more backstory on the canon current world of SW's then you have to pick up some of these newer products that are out there that were published this year. I say go back and watch COLLIDER Jedi Council to see exactly what is out there now.
