It's Begining to Look A Lot Like Loungemas

I wasn't sure if this was already talked about or where to talk about it, but I just came across this for the first time...and damn.

http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/obama-bans-saying-merry-christmas-at-va-center

Religious or not, I can't believe that they would ban the phrase "Merry Christmas". That's pretty messed up imho.

Take it to politics lee.

Also... Seems like the usual "war on Christmas" nonsense I hear all the time, most of which is severely overblown but done to convince old white Christians that live in a majority Christian nation that somehow they are under attack and that the end times draw near in which they will be dragged from their homes and persecuted to death.

Plus... That site is one in a long line of Libertarian outlets that spin EVERYTHING all the while complaining about the same in the "main stream" media.

I think I once urinated in the Main Stream. It was badly needed too.

Thanks for the heads up Krypton, Inc.

Yeah, I wasn't really sure at first where I should take it.

And I wasn't really aware of the history of the site like you are, so I didn't really think that there may have been some editorial bias placed on it.

Granted, I wasn't even aware that there was a notion of a "War on Christmas". I really need to check the news more.

Seriously? lee, War On Christmas is a perennial on FOX news, has been for like a decade. Look it up.

Did Michael Caine and Sean Connery show up to exact revenge for your urinary shenanigans?

Well they certainly tried, but let it never be said James Bond and Alfred Pennyworth are immortal.

Well... Bond is. He's either a TimeLord or he's an Egyptian with a Scottish accent that's been alive for centuries... Who gets killed by Mr. Krabs.

I have always thought that The Kurgan belongs in any discussion of the most iconic and memorable genre villains. He's up there with Vader or The Joker IMO.

So I'm watching the Flash and the fight scenes that had an Arrow crossover are just sad compared to DD/JJ. I don't think I could rewatch Arrow without comparing them and losing interest.

Even his offhand origin story is appropriately horrific, being thrown in a pit to fight dogs as a child. Plus Clancy is a beast of an actor; the series never knew his like again.

Arrow's first handful of episodes in season one had very impressive fight choreography but I dropped the show because that was all it had going for it. When I have checked out and episode here and there since, I am in total agreement. There was never a reason for ARROW to not reach the level of quality that DD has in many aspects other than a very lazy writing staff and an approach of "Eh, it's super hero stuff. No need to stress out on quality".

As for that crossover... I am just getting tired of the writing where villains approach Barry in a way that he should be able to just run up and bonk them on the head no problem. I know people will say, "Isn't that all of the Flash's villains?" More or less, yeah. But that's why you don't write scenarios where that is the obvious solution only to ignore it. There is no reason Barry in [BLACKOUT]fighting Savage when he attacked couldn't have run out the apartment, gone downstairs, go outside, run up the side of the building and blind sided Savage from behind in a blink.[/BLACKOUT]

I like most of the characters and I LOVE the Flash character and mythos in general but Berlanti's teams are just sloppy when it comes to making these shows. Sloppy and lazy. I really think that fans are giving these shows a pass just because of colorful costumes and SFX/Action sequences. I've seen too many "OMG! King Shark! Amazing! This is the best show!" type posts to dissuade me from thinking this. I like seeing stuff like King Shark too but I am puzzled as to how that makes up for lackluster casting and writing?

Yeah, I haven't watched FOX News in ages.lol And the only times that I've watched something FOX related on TV are/were "Gotham" and "Married with Children".

The voice, the physical demeanor... He's like Sabertooth done right in HIGHLANDER. That armor costume too, and the sword. Highlander is lightning in a bottle. Sometimes you just have to leave well enough alone.

I really, really, really, really hate Arrow these last few years, and whenever it bleeds over into flash it irks me greatly, hence why I'm avoiding these last few eps.

You're absolutely right about the Highlander series. It really is one of those films that simply doesn't lend itself to a series, and those sequels really tainted the well in terms of respectability.

PS, welcome to the lounge lee. Drop by more often. It can get fun in here. :yay:

Can anyone vouch for Black Sails?

edit: Rewatching Game of Thrones season two, I have to ask if Joffrey's treatment of Ros and the other ****e got as much backlash as Ramsay's wedding night?

I can, and will.

Its basically all of the Ironborn and Essos material we never got in Season 5 put in one show. With pistols. The last two episodes of season 2 are some of the best Tv I've ever seen.

Absolutely. I can't recommend it enough. Season 1 needs patience, but it's only 8 episodes. And loosey Roosey is right, Eps 8, 9 and 10 of Season 2 are probably amgonst the best TV ever.
