It's Either In You Or It's Not a.k.a. The Defenders

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be sticking with this book. I'm only interested in Iron Fist's plot and I'll definately stick with it through this Prince of Orphans story but after that it's up in the air. It's just sticking in the mediocre realm for me.

Awesome preview for Defenders #8 is awesome:

I've always been a fan of McKelvie's work so I'm really pleased he's on this book.

Yes, the art does look pretty good. I'll be happy if McKelvie could actually draw more than 3 issues in a row (although in fairness Terry Dodson also drew some prelude pages in various things).

Sales for issue #5 were below 28k. Even for a $3.99 book that isn't healthy after five issues. Unless things get stable this could be the final arc.

While I am mostly here for Iron Fist and the Defenders in general, I've found myself not minding Fraction's take on Silver Surfer. It's very weird, but considering I usually find the Surfer boring (or melodramatically whiney, "Oh, my lost Shalla-Bal" endlessly), "WEIRD" is a step up for his portrayal in my eyes.

Even if it is a bit of baloney that Surfer can't beat Prince Of Orphans in like 2 seconds. Was he depowered or something?

Really awesome cover for Defenders #10:

LOL, run Defenders, run!

I was about to say... judging by the costume I'm assuming that's Scott this time around.

And while they're all running away, I like how Iron Fist is just high tailin' it!

So, hey, how much does Strange suck now that he's been *****fied? Is it really annoying, or is it tolerable?

The Ant-Man in DEFENDERS being Scott Lang is interesting. With Hank Pym in AVENGERS ACADEMY and Eric O'Grady in theory still in SECRET AVENGERS, this may be a good place for him.

As for Dr. Strange's power level, the irony is he STILL is employed to utilize magic to have something the plot demands happen. Heck, even without being the Sorcerer Supreme, he managed to repair Thor's hammer once, didn't he? The only difference is now Strange can be challenged by small level threats, although even against big ones he can still match up, he just usually needs allies or more Maguffins.

I am curious how sales will be by issue #10. Sales have slipped every issue and even after 5 issues, sales per month were slipping over 5% an issue, which means this could be a title that struggles to remain past issue twelve if things deteriorate. The only upshot is the cover price means it may have more rope than some $2.99 selling at certain levels since it brings in more cash.

I dropped this series after #5, as I found it more confusing and convoluted than justified my love of Strange, Fist, and Surfer. I WANT to like this series but I'm having a hard time doing it. Should I jump back on? Is the current arc any better than the series opener?

#7 was really good. I just wish that Black Cat could stay permanently. Lang and Fury joining the team is gonna be great.

Is Fury going to be on the team?! I saw that in the solicits for august but I assumed it was just a quick cameo deal, not a full-time teammate.

That excites me immensely.

Marvel has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at artist Mark Brooks' cover for "Fearless Defenders" #5, a "Street Fighter" homage featuring every female Marvel hero appearing in the issue.

"Fearless Defenders" writer Cullen Bunn and artist Will Sliney teased a number of guest stars in a recent Q&A session with CBR forum members, and in the cover below, readers get to see who exactly they were referring to.

"Kate Bishop (aka the Young Avengers' Hawkeye) and Dazzler were both on the list at one point, but their involvement in other books changed that." However, Bunn was quick to note, "I'm not sure there are any real 'can't gets.' Even if they can't be on the team because of other involvement (like Gamora), there is nothing to say they couldn't appear as a guest star."
