Jack Black as GL? Why god...WHY?!

I really hope that Jack Black is just clinging to some saaaaaaaaad hope that DC will let him slip on the emerald ring, cause otherwise this is as sad as Paris Hilton coming out with an Album.

I'm finding it hard to believe that DC Comics as after taking such a serious and commendable approach at their Superhero properties would throw all that out of the window when it came time to give Green Lantern his shine. Hopefully he's just dellusional. I want Hal Jordan to have the same emotional fantastic silver screen treatment that Batman Begins and Superman Returns got. I'm a little more passionate about GL simply because he's never really gotten his opportunity to show his stuff and what he's all about like the big three have. He's been basically relegated to that "Green Laser beam guy from the super friends".

A spectacular silver screen adaption could propel GL to the upper echelon of Superhero greatness, making him a house hold name right along side, Spider-man, Superman, and the rest. Jack Black just isn't right and I'd really like to avoid another Catwoman and Son of the mask. Here's to hoping they dont Sully the Green Lantern name.

I hate this way of thinking in Hollywood; "Hey, Halle Berry/Jessica Alba/Jack Black is hot right now, let's do a superhero movie with them."

Anyway, I'd bet a lot of money on this happening....

One of the proper Green Lanterns, Hal or Kyle or someone else from the comics, does appear, but only at the beginning of the film, and for some reason has to give Jack Black's character a ring. Thusly the producers can claim it's faithful for the fans, yet will open up the story for a wider audience.

There are some comedy Green Lanterns anyway - not that I'm supporting a comedy movie over a serious one.

The only times Green Lantern has ever appeared in live action have both been in superhero comedies.

Oh my god... please no!! I can't even express how unbelievably bad of an idea this is!! Why Jack Black?! What could he possibly have that would make people want him for Green Lantern? I do not want a comedy Green Lantern film, I want a serious, epic action/drama. I want something like Spider-Man or Superman Returns, or even Batman Begins (although that may be too gritty and realistic for GL). I want something freakin' good!!

I've heard so many GL casting suggestions, and not a single on of them has been as bad as this. If this happened, I (and likely every other GL fan out there) would boycott this trash. WB better not even think of going through with it.

It has been a comedy on occasion. There are hundreds of Green Lanterns and some are pure comic relief.
