Who said I act or go to acting classes? How about trying to contribute rather than trying to be a smart mouth.

Geez, lighten up, will you?

Anyway, trailer looks good. Nothing spectacular, but it looks solid.

It seems like the reaction to tom cruise as jack reacher is near universally negative based on the comments section of websites being flooded by the book fans.

Somehow I don't feel the general public cares that much however, which would not be the case in a lot of other book adaptations though funny enough.

Apparently a ton of the fans of the book are saying Chris Hemsworth would have been a much better pick in both terms of look and behavior.

Reacher also never drives. The guy takes public transportation which is a big focal point of the book series.

Yeah, I mean... does the general public even know who the hell Reacher is? At the risk of sounding like a mainstream lemming... I'd never heard of the character before this movie went into production. I'm still kind of surprised they called the movie Jack Reacher, because I think most people are going to be like, "Who is that?"

That's actually pretty funny, because the car is like, the main focus of the trailer, other than Cruise himself. It almost looks like a Bullitt remake or something.

I really wouldn't be surprised if the book series becomes this generations James Bond, they're more popular than you'd think.

That's right. In 61 Hours the events are set in motion when he's on a bus that swerves off the road in the snow and is holed up in a small town through a blizzard. Another one starts when he's on a subway, anpother having just gotten off the bus in Atlantic city.

I could go on, he is by nature a wonderer and owns nothing. No car, house, phone, nothing. He wonders into a town, buys the clothes he needs at a thrift store for a few bucks and wears them for a week (or untill burned, bloodied, etc).

I've never read the books. This just seems like a mash-up of other action films. I'll still see it anyway. Is Jack Reacher a rogue officer?

To me the whole premise of the character almost sounds like it's more tailor made for a one hour drama TV series than a movie. Almost like Person of Interest without all the techno-gadgetry and surveillance.

This reviewer certainly doesn't like the look of the movie...

Jack Reacher Rips Off Drive, Miscasts Tom Cruise, Screws Lee Child Fans

To be fair, I also read an interview with Child where he said the physical description of the character isn't as important to casting the right actor and he said he was thrilled that Cruise was playing Reacher. Of course, not every writer takes an Alan Moore stance when it comes to movies.

An ex-MP, one of those born and bred military types who have lived their entire life in the service, moving from one base to another around the world. After the cold war ended the armies budget was no longer unlimited and eventual Reacher basically fell out of use and took up life as a drifter exploring the one country he had never really lived in: the US

With Werner Herzog playing the villian, they could have cast Verne Troyer as Reacher for all I care.

Thanks. This seems like a departure but I like the vigilante angle.

I think I hope this movie is a hit just so Cruise ties himself to it as a franchise and hopefully bows out of that Van Helsing reboot thing, because that just sounds like a terrible idea.

How many time has tom been miscast, only to wow his critics? Right now Lestat and Stacee Jaxx come to mind. After seeing the trailer, I'm a bit reminded of Vincent in Collateral.

Just saw the trailer, thought it looked pretty good. I'm not familiar with the books.

According to the wiki Reacher is 6'4 but the author says "Reacher’s size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way." :D

In other words, "he's not quite right but I'm getting paid big fat stacks of cash so whatever."

You didnt like the trailer so character is automatically ruined. Even though the trailer is basically one scene from the movie. Over react much

Don't start trolling in this thread, you're a big enough pain in the ass in the Wolverine section.

So clarify for me, posters that are familiar with the books are not allowed to express their quarrels with the film adaptation?

Or is this strictly an appreciation thread for the upcoming film?

Your last post was trolling not discussing an opinion.....nuff said.

You're on a short chain, I'd suggest you leave it at that as I wont have the patience with you danoyse had.

Looks better, but still not worth the price of admission. The bit at the end was funny though

I'll go see it. Cruise has always been an actor I'd honestly watch in anything, regardless of thoughts on him. ****, I even watched Valkyrie.

I think either Sceintology has the Holy Grail or he's been drinking what Roger Moore was drinking back in the 70's but man, Cruise looks good for his age.
