Nice to hear a sequel may be happening after all. This was a good, underrated flick.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

I mean I wouldn't mind a sequel with Cruise and the movie did OK, but I'll believe they make a sequel when Paramount says so.

Remember reading articles for a long time saying Hulk and Green Lantern sequels were happening.

I'm sure they're waiting to see how well it does on home video, much like the situation was with Kick-Ass.

But in this case, the lead actor is also one of producers, you know. :cwink:

Great news. Especially if it leads to more grown up detective thrillers by other studios.

:highfive:

I couldn't believe the initial reports. They are going to make a healthy, healthy profit on just the home video release and that isn't even taking into account that the movie clearly made money in theaters. Oh, and the movie is damn good.

:D

Strong WOM and $140M profit before it hits the home video market should have made a sequel an easy call to make, I think this will be similar to the Bourne Identity.

I think you are right there. I think a lot of people who missed out will see it on DVD or Blu Ray and will hop on the sequel bandwagon, like Bourne.

Also, for those that read the series, is there any chance for a return of Miss Pike's character? I loved her and Cruise together.

I loved her and Cruise together.

Not that I've seen, but I don't have them all.

Throw her into a story she doesnt belong because you like her? Reacher doesnt stay in the same place long enough to have recurring characters (unless they are military people)

I have no affinity for the books. I don't really care if they mess with the story as long as it is good. Heck there were a lot of "fan" complaints about Cruise, and he was terrific. Whether he is the book Reacher or not, really doesn't matter to me. He was awesome.

Also I distinctly remember the film implying possible future contact.

I actually picture Cruise now everytime I read the stories. He was just perfect. I don't want to hear oh Chris Hemsworth could have been better or Hugh Jackman. No they wouldn't have been able to portray the badassness that Cruise was able to, not too mention they aren't as stunt dedicated as Cruise.

I'm a ridiculously huge fan of the books and I couldn't really care less if they bring her back. I was a big fan of her in the movie and I thought she and Cruise worked well together. There's what 20 books, you could easily take one of those plots and fit her in.

I missed this when it was showing in the cinema but just bought it on DVD.

Probably one of the best Cruise movies I've seen.

I wish they would make more old school movies like this, it was like seeing a movie from the 80's and I loved it, hope a sequel does come to fruition, cant see why it wouldnt, the movie earned around treble its budget at the BO. Home sales shouldnt even come into it.

The scene with the staredown reminded me of 70's car chase/scenes

I really like the movie. Despite him not being as tall/big as Jack is in the novels. I couldn't see anyone else in the role now other then Tom Cruise.

Saw this the other night & thought it was pretty awesome. Cruise was excellent. Not familiar with the books but I might try them out.

"I mean to beat you to death and drink your blood from a boot" is probably the most badass line I'll hear all year. Great film.

Got around to seeing this and ended up liking it a lot. Really liked how there was pretty much no music during the fight scenes.

To me this was like a modern day Dirty Harry movie basically. In that it really worked and was well executed.

I hope the writer/director brings that sensibility to MI5

Really enjoyed Jack Reacher, it was a surprise, something different. Overall it was executed properly. Great job again by Tom Cruise!
